Posting this kind of thread in any BMW forum will invite the "I have the second- least expensive-class BMW" snobs.

The car should be compared with other sports coupes less than 30K or so.

I don't like the looks or interior, but it offers a RWD 2.0L turbo which sounds like a lot of fun for the price. And it's about 90 lbs lighter than the 3.8.

When they fix the suspension and the manual transmission, it will be a much more compelling choice than it is now.

They're about even. Did you know the answer already, or were you expecting me to provide the link?

The Genesis Coupe is a rebadged Toyota.

My previous car was a 2010 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track w/A6. I hated the car so much I sold it less than a year into owning it.

Fit & finish is garbage. Materials are crap. Interior panels scratch way too easily. Leather is too hard. My ass would hurt if I was in the car for more than an hour.

Rotors warped with less than 12k miles.
ZF Trans is crap. They made it so it cuts power if you try to get too much out of the car.
Traction control was a joke. It would cut ALL power at any sign of wheel slip aka you will die if you dont turn it off daily (excluding rain etc of course)
One night I lost all lights (incl interior) except for headlights & I had to drive home that way.
They are prone to a vibration at various speeds that has yet to be fixed. Mine had it at 60+ MPH. Felt like a crazy monkey was shaking the wheel. Many folks have had this issue & their dealers could not fix it w/new wheels, tires, drive shaft, etc.
Heated seats took way too long to kick in
I felt like a 19 yr old douche driving the car
Throttle response is terrible
AC was not nearly cold enough
Suspension was too stiff on the track model for daily driving IMO, but that's me not the car.

I had Injen CAI & nitrous on the car. I could never get traction, but I was trapping 108 on 75 shot & 110 on 100 shot. Car ran 14.0 @ 99 stock w/anotehr garbage 60'

HIDs on that car were great though & the random function on the iPod worked as it should unlike on my BMW.

I will never buy another Hyundai unless I need a cheap shitbox beater.

This is one of the dumbest posts I have read. There's nothing Toyota about it.

The outside was modeled after the G37. The inside was modeled after a shitbox Hyundai.

Buy the Mustang.

That video was helpful.

Purely from a numbers perspective, it is attractive. But, as some of you said, the overall driving experience is underwhelming and the interior is cheap.

I'll test drive one soon

& those Brembo brakes still don't stop any better than most performance coupes out there. It's just a name for the GC as those Brembos fail to live up to the Brembo name.

Yea, that 2011 Stang is damn impressive. They even put it against an M3 in a recent road test (Motor Trend?). Actually had some really good things to say about it.

Some of the modded ones look great.

That said, this forum is full of fanboys (especially the 335i guys ). The current 3 series is not the end-all car. It's a good car, but by no means is it great. It's too bad there are so many badge whores around these parts.
I too am not a fan of driving around a Hyundai, but hey, get what fits the bill.

I think Hyudai has made a lot of progress over the years.
A GC & a BMW are not in the same class nor was the 3 series Hyundai's aim with the GC so why are they being compared? Different cars. 2.0T model is SEVERELY underpowered. You need to drop a few GRAND into it just to get it to the STOCK power of the 3.8 V6 which is also underpowered & needs more torque.

I know the 370 doesnt exactly have the most refined motor.. but the rev-matching transmission is very good, the interior is nice enough, and I like how the rear fenders remind me of a 930 Turbo.

Yeah, ours are much easier to change out the pads. All we need is a c-clamp, just leave the spreader in the basement, don't even need it. But that car co. sure took your money downtown.

What? I wasn't talking about pad changes, but fyi it is also very easy to change pads on a Genesis.

i feel that the genesis is quite the looker. performance is... i would say it holds it self. it has pretty nice options and is very attractive. with a sick warranty and a decent price. why wouldnt this car be good? other then its a hyundai but i feel like it is getting out of that crappy korean mindset 5 years ago.

But it does have the recipe for a good chassis. No lsd but im sure not everyone needs one.

My Track model had an LSD from the factory...

The exterior looks are great, but once you sit in it & sdrive for a bit it sucks.

Mine stickered over $31k. Not worth it IMO. No, I didn't pay that. I was leasing mine.
