My old e92 m3 vs current e46 m3 - corner balance sheet weights

E46 on Left / E92 on Right

Both with KW clubsports, e92 had on track wheels but stock exhaust except dinan muffler and secondary cat delete.
E46 has header and full car delete but added a center muffler and on stock 19's

Weighed without aero

I'm not seeing anything, but I'm curious about the findings.

Info on the aero please and how easy it to remove to not look like a dork on the street or rip off that lip.

Maybe it's the angle of the pic, but it looks like the rear wing is giving you lift

Interesting. The E9X is known for being light in the rear. Your airfoil does look to be backwards (could be just the angle of pic).

Correct, but even at an UP angle the wing still provides tons of downforce! I was trying to reduce understeer the aero brought so I kept lifting the angle of the wing, ideally you want the least amount of wing you need (less drag). I was still full throttle thru turn 8 at WSIR at 130mph

The splitter is not easy to remove and not something you can just take on and off. Lots of attachment points/bolts

Looks like you had the E92 pretty well set up. Why did you move to an E46? (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

If the E46 had the stock exhaust and the E90 had a dinan rear section...that could account for some of the front heaviness on the E90.

I was surprised at how heavy the stock exhaust is on both cars as I was holding then up over my head whimpering for help. Yeah, I tried to make it a one person job both times...mistake.

like 50 pounds for the rear section (according to my non-dynoed arm scale).

And its so awkward its like holding up 100lbs. I ended up just dropping my E46M3 exhaust on the floor since no one came to help (they just laughed) and its pretty much worthless.

Save money. Monthly payment plus many track days add up. Bought the e46 outright.

Also the e46 has aftermarket headers and borla
The e92 only had a dinan muffler.

Both had KW's.

Thanks for sharing.

How much fuel in each car?
Is the weight with driver (I suspect not)?

The spec sheet says with driver. Curious how much the driver weighed....

This is why I was asking. Those weights are very close to the weight of my own E46 and E92, but without driver.

The weights are WITH driver. I weigh 175-180
E92 had 1/2 tank, e46 3/4 tank.

I have the kind of brain that absolutely refuses to "see" chart labels and topic headings. Par for the course.

Interesting stuff. My E90 with half tank is about 3570 without driver, about 3755 with, but that's with about 50lb lost in wheels, front brakes and MPE. If you take out all the trunk junk and misc. crap in the car it's closer to 3735 with driver. However, the weight distribution is more even, 50.4% front with driver and 50.8% cross weight and that's without coilovers and with a slightly heavier than stock front suspension setup (steel MCS dampers and solid RDSport bar)
