Just curious if any of you have serious buyers remorse of not getting a specific option or deletion of one when buying your m3?

I purchased a 2011 e90 m3 last year and got most of the things I wanted, but compromised a little, since i wanted to drive an m3 versus searching forever for the perfect configuration.

Must have items I wanted and have
E90 sedan
6MT
ZCP
Desired color
Speed cloth interior

Things I regret not getting
Sunroof delete
IDrive/Nav delete

I find myself not driving the m3 because I can't stand looking at the eyesore in my dash and the tinted glass on my roof. The dash probably wouldn't have bothered me so much if I didn't have a friend with a 335 with no idrive. Also, I have a light colored car which makes the sunroof really stand out like a sore thumb.

How difficult is it to find a white or silver 6mt e90 m3 with zcp as the only option?

Similar to you I have a 11 e90 zcp 6 speed.

I got things like
heated seats
Sunroof
Comfort access
I drive
Combox

I wanted (but didn't get) fold down rear seats and no sunroof, but ultimately I got close enough. The "perfect" option combo on an unmodified great condition low mileage late model e90 6spd was pretty much impossible to find.

Never had a sunroof, but my second e92 is close to the same as my first but with iDrive and Nav delete. The clean dash makes a huge difference in the interior. But you have a great build so no need to let those factors deter you from driving!

Uh... you sure you're alright?

If an "eyesore" in dashboard design and having a sunroof (which has a retractable panel anyways so wtf?!) bothers you to the extent you don't even drive the M3, then you seriously need to re-evaluate your priorities in what driving a car means to you.

That's a good question! I guess I'm a little OCD and beating myself up for not waiting for the "perfect" m3. I got impatient after searching for 7 months. But I did get the most important things; 6mt, zcp and speed cloth.

However, I do wish sunroofs were body colored like old BMWs versus today's glass moonroofs. They look better in my opinion. Same with the single hump dash.

I never considered the iDrive screen to be an eyesore. I guess most here hate it because race car. At least it's not like the F models where it looks like they slapped a tablet on the dash as an afterthought. Also I love my reverse camera.

Let's face it: virtually everybody on this forum or any enthusiast forum is OCD. We obsess over details that mean nothing or next to nothing to the mass of drivers. We Zymol the car every weekend. We Q-tip dust from the cracks between interior panels. We live in terror of a rod bearing failure. Or whatever.

OP, about your obsession, er, question...I knew what l DIDN'T want: automatic transmission of any kind, second dash hump, dated GPS, sunroof, or fussy driver's aids. And what I did want: two doors, premium pkg, carbon fiber roof, upgraded sound, and low miles. A superfluous extra was heated seats (which sold the purchase for my wife). Because color was not a big factor, it took me all of a month to find the car, although I did have to have it trucked from Texas. So, no regrets.

i'm still happy i got my car the way i did. but- i always tell people if i ball up my car at the track, i'm buying a stripper e92 carbon roof DCT. that way i wouldn't feel bad about getting rid of the comfort stuff for race stuff.

I'm in the midst of buying an '11 without PDC, Comfort Access, or Individual Stereo...all things I was originally shooting for.

..but, the car has everything else I wanted (SG/FR, ZCP, sunroof, heated seats, fold-down rear seats) AND the history/owner of the car are good. Plus it has an extended warranty in place.

I've already "taken care of" the stereo by purchasing a JLAudio XD600/6 and some Focal drop-ins (now I just need to get the car home). I've lived for years without PDC and Comfort Access (except on the wife's X3) and i'm sure I'll be fine.

I wish I had the Cold Weather Package so I could fold down my rear seats. Not terrible to not have it, just have needed it in a few situations.

OP,

Like you I got iDrive delete, speed cloth and MT. I just like that spartan, somber and functional German interior design philosophy of days past.

I chuckle when perplexed passengers ask "Wait, isn't this supposed to be a luxury car?"

The only options I do not have are auto high beams and extended leather.

I wish I had both and I also wish I had an individual color.

But really, I wish I was able to get the M3 GTS in the US.

I'm happy with the options my car has...but there are a few things I wish it came with but not too pissed about: EPS (premium sound), Premium Package (...like power folding mirrors, yeah...my car doesn't have that), and ZCP (just for the 359M wheels as stocks).

I think the clean single hump dash is the ONE thing I really wish I had. It just looks more timeless. I think 5-10 years from now the single hump will still look good, but the idrive/Nav dash will look very dated.

I'd say the main reason I pulled the trigger on my less than ideally optioned m3 was the fact it was a 1 owner car with all original paint in very good condition. It was dealer maintained (6k oil service intervals and other fluids changed annually) along with other consumables its entire life. It was a daily commuter car with no track time. I was plesantly surprised it had zero dings or scratches.
Otherwise, I love this car from an overall performance and practicality perspective. The s65 sounds sweet and responsive!

But I still hate my dash.

Just sold my E90 M, but if i were to do it over again I don't need Idrive, nor do I need/use the sunroof. I hate sunroofs with a passion after spending three weeks chasing a leak in my wife's car. lol

Wish I didn't have the folding mirrors option... as soon as I replaced one side (~$1000 part by the way), the other goes .
