iDrive hard drive?

so I feel stupid that I just learned that you can copy/rip music to the iDrive system? So I'm curious how big is the hard drive in it then? what would be the advantages to a flash vs the hard drive and vice versa.

Thanks

The advantage of using a flash is that it won't recode your file to 128kpbs WMA. Anything transfered to the HDD will be encoded to 128 kbps WMA.

There are different figures posted at different places, but from what I've read, you have between 8GB and 12GB of space available to copy your music onto the hard drive.

Does someone with an '09 have a difinative answer?

Thanks for posting this document Technic. That's an awesome resource.

So according to the information on Page 5, there is 8GB of space set aside from the 80GB hard drive to store personal music files. I wonder what the other 90% of the hard drive space is used for other than map information?

Edit: Never mind.....I just found the answer to my question on Page 23.
