I agree Ford is moving in the right direction.
But let's not forget BMW made a brute E39 BMW M5 in 1998, 4.9L V8 400HP that is also similar in straight line speed. I think most people on the board would agree that the E39 M5 and E92 M3 are completely different cars, and I think the driving experience in the Mustang will also be a completely different animal.

I had a E39 M5 for a while and it was nothing like the performance level of our E92's or a 5.0 for that matter.Even in that time period it was nothing earth shattering but a very nice car as an everyday driver.

Shit I just remembered that it was not a E39 M5 that I had but the Canadian only M540 wich had the normal 540 V8 with the M5 body, suspension & brakes.I did have a E34 M5 though.I guess old age is dulling my memory of some of the cars that I have had

i didnt even realize there was such a model, did it have an M badge on the back? I always thought people were just slapping M badges on their 540s

Boy am I ever screwed up on thisThe M540 was a E34 not a E39 and I guess that I had that in 95 before it went to one of my clients.I did drive a E39 M5 for a few weeks before it went to the same client who had the M540.

There was an e39 540 with an available M sport pkg - but no exterior badge - similar to the package offered on the e46's

Lol! So how do the E39 M5 and Mustang compare.. I'm gonna try to get a test drive back to back. I owuldn't mind having the Mustang as something fun & relatively good on gas for inclement weather situations

I never really felt at home in an M5 as they were too big & heavy if you wanted to throw it around.Nice street cars but not even pretending to be a track car.
I have not driven an 2011 GT as the ones that we have had are all sold and one that I delivered already has the engine apart getting a major horsepower improvement
