NASA at pocono- July 13-15

Anyone going? It isn't my favorite track but it's been repaved so I am curious to see how it drives..

I might go on sunday. Its been repaved, but does anyone know if that nasty bump at the end of the backstraight right before the infield is still there?

Not sure what infield configuration they were running, but a friend of mine went recently with Hooked on Driving--he said the banking is pretty incredible; he was routinely hitting 160+mph in his Z06...

They claim the paving fixed the hump. I sure hope so! The track is crazy because of the banking and speed you carry. It's the only track I've been on that I can maintain max speed. ( speedo reads around 160,I think I'm around 150). I'd love to get on the full oval and see if the car has more, though!
The banking is actually daunting. 130+ heading straight toward the wall to allow the banking to pull you down is fun..

I'll be there on Sat for the clockwise sessions, skipping Sunday's left turns :-)

Not going but my good friend is Brandon Igdalsky, CEO of Pocono. I believe he repaved the main track but I don't believe the road course. I recall him telling me that is supposed to be next year. I haven't been up there recently to check, scheduled to in October.

Let me know what you find out.

Kind regards,
Chris

The infield transition is still problematic. The gap is now a bump and still upsets the car on the way out but not as bad as last year's gap. The new paved surface is awesome, enjoy it while it lasts. Hitting the limiter twice per lap today on the clockwise setup.

Agree.. Looking forward to the infield work this fall, and running the correct way tomorrow.

Was my first time tracking so poconos being not extremely technical worked great for me. Having the M's power for the long straights was great...what speeds you guys hit? I was there yesterday...I think we were running clockwise. My car is stock apart from Dinan Exhaust, RPI scoops and AA filter...think I was a bit over 140mph though I was trying not to look down. Anyways, I had a blast and learned a lot. Feels great when you hit certain sections just right =)

It's a good thing you didn't look down, eyes far ahead If you were at the garage 2 spots over from the blue 335, we talked a bit yesterday.

I was hitting the speed limiter on both straights with some room for more. 160 indicated, 147 actual on GPS. Try a more technical course for your next event, NJMP, Limerock, WGI, Summit Point, more fun than Pocono. GL!
