6MT to DCT swap
I ordered a 6MT and now I'm chickening out. Is this even possible complete this swap? Google search brings up nothing. How much would it cost to do with real BMW parts? Obviously greater than 3K. But how much more?

why do you need a German to confirm that dude? Simply cancel your order and reorder another car will be less than $3000+.

Let me get this straight. You want to buy a new M3 and throw the warranty out the window by doing a tranny swap? Thats one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Just buy a DCT, why go through the hassle.

Listen, it's just a question. I put the deposit down. I actually am excited about the MT6 but also terrified. I've always blindly hated MTs. I'm more asking to know that if I really hate it, it is possible to change without getting rid of the car.

You will be happy with the MT. If you have hated MT's, why order one? This whole thing doesn't make sense. |

but seriously...change your order or do get the car....simple as that worse comes to worse you loose your deposit(which i doubt) and that will be much cheaper than a swap

I cant see why you cant change your order if you have not taken delivery yet. Your negotiating leverage maybe less. Your order is still order the dealership monthly allotment and should be able to still sell it unless you order a very weird color combo and optional feature.
If they say no! walk out of the deal lose your 1K deposit, and go to another dealership. Alot less cash damage than modding yur tranny

I did read somewhere that the DSG gearbox in the Golf or TT cost £7.5K to replace but only cost £1350 when specced with the car at time of ordering. Making an educated guess the M3's M-DCT is more advanced than the DSG and could possibly cost as much as £10~12K.

If you only put a deposit down, then back out, get your money back, and get a DCT.

Besides that there might be plenty of other things including software/DME one would have to change. Even if it was possible (somewhat doubt it) it makes no sense whatsoever. Best regards, south

It's one to ask this question if you have already taken delivery, but it is indeed a pointless thing to ask if you haven't even bought the car...
