plasti dip your brake calipers!

I recently discovered a thread on dipyourcar where people were discussing if you could plasti dip your brakes... I mean, seriously? I'm all for using it as a temp substitute for wheels as I obviously have but brake calipers is just too far! Spraying them with high temp caliper paint is not difficult at all.

What's next, plasti dip turbos!!

*sigh*

Many people lease their cars so plastidipping is a prefectly reasonable alternative to painting when you have to have it back to stock in less than 3yrs. I'm not sure how calipers are any different than wheels in this respect.

Wheels = perfectly fine
Calipers = crazy?

double sigh

I have little experience with plastidip but assumed it would manage the heat. If not, I guess those people will find out the hard way.

I've never used plastidip but i'd be pretty shocked it if it could hold up to long term caliper heat, not to mention the dust and grime that accumulates while driving.

that's a horrible idea, i love plastidip but i would never use it on things that actually "matter" on my car. if you can peel of plastidip with your fingers imagne what will happen when it's on a high temp brake calliper?

Yep, in theory makes total sense, but I would imagine that the difference in temperature could be more than a few hundred degrees farenheit. Not sure though.

I am considering doing a rally this year from Dallas to Miami (Dustball Rally). I couldn't think of a better reason for plastidipping my whole car. Not for looks, but for the protection... probably the wheels also.

Apparently it's good to 312 degrees F, not sure how hot the brakes get.
