OP, it's good that you managed a compromise that allows you to still have fun in inclement business times. I'll be very curious to see what car you end up next when/if the business picks up again...

im so glad i saw this. all the 302s color schemes so far to me have looked a bit something out of a nightmare. the white and black looks just right and makes the car stand out in its perfect nature. contemplating selling my lightning and getn me a new 5.0 or maybe a boss. good looking car and good comparison.

Well this is an m3 forum. People will always find a reason why the M3 is better. I agree that the older gtr models had a somewhat number steering, but that has been improved and you can get a better feel of what the wheels are doing. The car is more involving in that sense. As far as 6speeds go they are nice, but I prefer the paddles now on my M3 and of course the GTR. Go over to NAGTROC and you will find many happy owners that have switched to the GTR after having driven a variety of cars, including Ms.

Well of course - all people who have purchased an M3 over a GT-R can be found on this forum.

All I'm saying is that for me personally, the GT-R was less involving than the M3, there was less to learn as a driver in it, and the price was also a factor. If price weren't a factor, I'd buy a 997.2 S or GT3 over a GT-R any day of the week, and consider this "moving up" (performance gap or no performance gap).

I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with someone who is in love with their GT-R as much as I am with my M3.

I didn't purchase my GTR "over" my m3. I appreciate, as do you, many types of cars. Many M3 drivers use other cars on the track and DD the M3. Others use it for both. These two vehicles are in a different league performance and price wise so I don't see why they are compared or cross shopped. A used 2008-2010 GTR will typically run in the 65-75k range. I also like P cars. I had a 997tt a couple years ago....great car but I honestly prefer the GTR. Now a 997tt S is something else. The m3 and 997s are not that far apart performance wise. I like them both.

We're talking about different things - you refer to the performance (metrics) and I refer to the driving experience.

That's the range for a loaded E92 M3, which is why they are sometimes compared and cross-shopped.

I respect your opinion and also love my m3. I personally love the driving experience of the GTR as well. These things are all subjective.

You can easily get a new m3 loaded way under msrp. I paid around 72k fully loaded. However, you can get one with decent options in the low 60s. I have seen them going right at invoice. I prefer buying my vehicles new. Try finding a new gtr under sticker. They are in limited supply and high demand. Expect to pay at least 90k with most selling around 95k out the door. I have heard of a few sell for couple grand below sticker and some up to 15k above. Therefore, we are talking about a significant 30k price difference....enough to buy a couple brand new base Honda civics.

I have issues.

Honestly, I regret switching cars so frequently. I learned an expensive lesson and plan to be content with what I have.

Did you get it for MSRP? Do you know which dealer in SoCal is selling for MSRP or below? Thanks!

I got mine for a little under MSRP, but I'm in north Texas. I don't have a clue what the Cali dealers are charging.

If you are in the market for a Boss you might want to wait on the 2013s. It appears they will get a revised front and rear clip, standard HID headlights and a new instrument cluster that will have a 4.2" screen like the F150.

Cabinetman,
Did you manage to get the Trackey? If so, how does it perform?

TrackKey hasn't been issued yet. There is still a hurdle with the EPA.

The new 2013 Boss that is coming out is going to get some more creature comforts. It will get a 4" screen between the tach and speedo that will have a track mode that can record laptimes etc.

Also there has been some freshning to get rid of the "diaper" on the S197 Mustang along with some other improvements.

The base 5.0L Coyote Mustang GT is going to get a small bump in power as well, the hint is it will be beyond the Camaros 426.

The next Mustang in 2015 I feel is going to be a game changer for Ford. The retro theme will be gone, a thoroughly modern design yet still a Mustang and finally a proper IRS.

Now that BMW has gone the V6 route, there probably isn't going to be a new M3 in the future for me. Either I keep my E92, which I just love, the new 2015 Mustang or go back to Porsche.

Dave

I actually got an email from Ford that stated Trackey has finally gotten CARB approval and the details on when we can get it will be released at SEMA next month. Apparently CARB drug it's feet approving the programming and might have even made Ford water the tuning down a bit. We shall see.

Man, I knew it was quick, but not this quick. With the upcoming improvements mentioned above, this is looking very enticing. Hopefully they open up the color options too.

As irony would have it....I lined up with a new boss 302 last night. I had 3 passengers with total weight of about 150 lbs. we ran up to 140 from a low roll and I ended up about 1/2 car to a full car ahead. My sedan is a DCT and I would pull when the 302 shifted but in gear it seemed like the 302 was very even with the M3... Very closely matched acceleration.
