Do NOT do business with SCAMMER ///RON
After going back and forth for several weeks after the lci headlights were paid for, he finally shipped them.
Got the box in today, extremely well packaged by UPS. Here's what I found when I unwrapped them. I have messages between Ron and myself that the headlights are in perfect working condition, no damage or anything like that. I have contacted paypal, let them know, fortunately I had not closed the claim, as well as notified my bank. The box in which the parts were wrapped had no damage, nor were there any shards of plastic or other materials lose in the wrapping, indicating that the headlights were previously in this condition. The headlights are obviously useless to me. This member has cause me a lot of headache and stress, and I hope that no one ever does business with him. I once bought a $1500 tube amplifier and when i got it it was only in 60% of the condition expected it would be. It was a no return policy ebay seller. Description online was only two words "good condition" the rest was emails. Another time I bought some other audio electronic stuff for $800 and that one was worth more like $200. Policy of no return also but the seller agreed to take it back but since it was a rarety i kept it. Moral of stories, when you buy online experiences can vary tremendously. I'm sure that you will be less naive next time, someone owning a bmw and selling parts thereof is no guarantee of business integrity at all.

Don't know him but something seems off with the whole warrant voideddd thread. None of what he is saying seems plausible, a shop isn't going to change your mileage on their own. Not sure what the end game is with him, or how you can understand what he is trying to say haf the time.

Funny, you were trying to scam the system calling this a "gift"... maybe he literally thought it was a gift?

Yes, this tread from \\\Ron seemed pretty whack:
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...01&postcount=1 Warrant Voideddd Hey guys so basically my car miles has been tampered with by a local shop while i was getting it fixed from a hydroplane accident. four days after getting my car back.. i was cruising around 60 on the freeway and then my car just went out of gear and shut down.. i was stuck on the freeway for like 3 hours due to my phone dying. After, i sent my car to the dealer... apparently i have altenator problems and possibly tranny problems. My car is a 2012 bmw m3 with low miles. anyways long story short they voided my warranty for mileage tampering... the car is a lease.. any thoughts? at this point ive done all my research and i am just stressed out.. i have a nother year on the car and it doesnt even move LOL |

Lesson learned the hard way: don't use the "gift" method just to save 3%. I consider the 3% my insurance policy.

Something to consider is that when you do business with PayPal, even when you send as a gift, if you used a credit card on your end you can tell your bank to issue a chargeback. I had to do this once and my bank is there to serve me not the other guy and it was very easy compared to the PayPal process which can still result in them judging in his favor rather than yours. I've been very tempted to do the "gift" thing but I would rather pay the 3% for peace of mind.

Interesting take and a valid point. I'm guessing trying to game the system with a "gift" payment opens up many rabbit holes. I'm also guessing the OP won't do that again. Good luck in getting it resolved. You might have to send out the pipe-wielders Pulp Fiction-style....or the coppers.

I guess OP was not having a Lucid Moment when they agreed to the seller's terms

Except you can't dispute the charge to PayPal, because PayPal only acted as the intermediary. PayPal didn't rip off OP, this guy Ron did.

I looked over his 80 posts and they all seem like part outs and voided warranty B.S.....he doesn't have any posts where he actually discusses something BMW M3 related.
I hope he didn't rip you off... I have been burned purchasing on forums before so I feel your pain. I am starting to think buying used is not worth it. Honestly, I search the online Ads but the prices people list things for is typically not low enough to motivate me to buy used. If you go to the vendors and negotiate you can get them to reduce their prices and I am willing to pay a bit more to get something brand new and guarantee I get it. For example I saw an exhaust for a Supersprint axel back used $1800 on this forum. I emailed and negotiated with some vendors and in the end one was willing to sell it for 1690! With shipping would be around 1800...brand new! Even if the used piece had been 1400...I still would not have bought it used...400 bucks honestly seems worth getting something new, being able to return it if flawed, vendor support, warranty in many cases.. and most of all: guaranteeing you get it! For this very reason, I never purchase anything through paypal or on the seller's good will. Unfortunately, I've lost trust with many people over the year with buying things blind, and now I only purchase things in person, where I can meet the person in a public place (mostly starbucks), give him the money and look at the product physically.

Be careful when looking at someones iTrader feedback. That guy only had 1 positive transaction but he was the buyer.
