The M3 e90 / e92 side profile is UGLY!
I like the look of the M3 both from the front and back. IMHO the side profile is really ugly. The back end is slanted too much upwards. The previous generation M3 e46 is better looking IMO from all angles (front, rear and side). What do you think? Let's hear everyone's opinion on this.

Dude, I totally agree with you.
Matter of fact, whenever I walk to my car, I cover my eyes, or just try and look away until I get in. Sometimes I accidentally slip and look directly at my car...this can be a horrifying experience. I even carry a picture of an E46 M3 with me everywhere so I can be reminded of how perfect the M3 was before BMW decided to turn it ugly. Then I get in my car and fire 'er up and I forget all about how completely reprehensible the E90 M3 is... I'm so jealous of you to drive the gloryous looking car that's the Z4...it's truly a work of bangled art!!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I would say that most people on this forum will disagree with you.

But seriously, you're on crack. Although I own one, I'm still in the camp of warming up to certain styling cues of the E9x M3 and admit it's a long way from the most beautiful of cars that have graced this earth. And while I also believe that the front bumper of the E9x and especially the rear lower bumper of the E92 M3 isn't the prettiest design to ever come out of Bavaria, if anything its the side profile that is its saving grace. The E9x M3's side profile is one of its best assets, compared to for example, the excessive front overhangs typical of Audis, etc and the stubbiness of the 1-series, and the catastrophic esthetics of the Z4. The E9x side profile is well-proportioned and very cohesive end to end. Just my opinion of course.

I don't like the E93's side profile with the top up, but that is because the trunk is terrible with that line in it and the roofline just does not flow. The e92, however, is a beauty.
I don't think that the Z4 is the ugliest car BMW makes. That would probably go to the X6 IMO. |

The powerdome looks the best from the side IMO

This is a side profile pic I found on this forum. True the Chris Bangle styling is a love it or hate it thing. However, he had BMW corporate support from the top and you see Bangle styling cues through out the entire BMW line up. When it comes to roadster or coupes, it really depends on your lifestyle. I have absolutely no regrets with my Z4...love the wind in the hair feeling and looking up at the blue skies or stars. I prefer a convertible on most days for driving around town. I had an appointment and test drove the new M3 the other day at a local stealer...love the smooth power delivery from the V8. I also like the powerdome on the bonnet/hood. Tough crowd in here. Lol. Seriously I am looking to add an 09 M3 coupe or an 08 M coupe to my stable for track events. Again IMHO I think the M3 e46 is the pinnacle of BMW styling. |

I'd agree that the non M e46's looked better than the non M e9X's. But, the e9x M version has it all over the e46 M.
However, the interior design of the e46 is far superior to the e9x's. IMHO. |
