protecting interior oem interior carbon trim

Hey guys,

So I just picked up my 2012 m3 and I noticed that although the carbon trim on the interior of the car is reaaaaaal slick I can tell that over the years of ownership, it'll start its fibrous wear and tear. Are there any suggestions for protecting the integrity of the carbon trim or is this just the cost of ownership?

Thanks

Jon

I am presuming you are referring to the carbon leather interior trim?

I don't see why this would get worn out at all, or start to unravel if that is what you are suggesting. It's embossed leather, with no seams, and it's all located in places that don't receive much wear and tear.

I wouldn't worry about it. If it does wear, it's easily replaced. But personally, I think the chances of this happening are near zero.

I have the Carbon Fiber Trim and although its not sealed like wooden or aluminum trims, I don't think it will wear.

The Carbon Leather trim can be treated just like upholstery leather.

One other thing on this topic for the OP.

The Carbon Leather Trim looks like it is woven, but it's not. (It's embossed I think). So there's nothing to fray... it's just a big hunk of leather that's been stamped or rolled to look like Carbon Fiber.

Maybe you would want to treat it with leather condition like you do with your seats, but I suspect a simple wipe down every few months with a damp cloth will keep it looking swanky.

what's good for your seats is good for the cf leather trim...

use your desired cleaner and conditioner in the appropriate intervals and you'll be fine...

Remember that the Cf leather is not actually a weave. It's just an imprint.
