HELP DIAGNOSING. Any advice appreciated

I have a 2004 m3 with 78k miles. A code saying my camshaft position on the intake was over retarded. (p0012). Changed the Solenoid, code still came back on. The SES comes on and off every now and then. If i drive the car normally it doesnt come on, if i start driving it hard it comes on eventually, then goes away after about a day. The car idles a little weird SOMETIMES for a little bit. Im about to order a new Intake Camshaft Position Sensor, but am wondering, could that even be the source of the problem? Car seems to run fine with no problems. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!!!

Probably not the best forum to ask this question. I would also try replacing the sensor. It might be that the sensor itself is having intermittent issues.

You should also try to read it with a BMW scanner as it will give you more information on the fault.
