its very difficult for them to know...and it really shouldn't effect the car's warranty. Its not like the engine can't withstand an additional 12 hp. Were not adding 100+hp here

How is it difficult for them to know? Can't they detect it once they hook the car up to the scanner?

As far as the warranty is concerned, it depends on what goes wrong with the car. It less to do with the amount of horsepower being added than the effects that the aftermarket product has on specific components of the car's operation. To the extent that the aftermarket product has a negative effect on the car's operation, however much power is generated by the mod, the warranty can be denied. That's why it's important to go with a tuner with a reputation for thoroughly developing its products.

I think a chip with our cars wont be optimised till we can chip a full setup. By full setup i mean Headers, exhaust, mid pipes, intake, pulleys and THEN the chip which would optimize the whole setup. By chipping a n/a (pretty much stock) V8 you are not going to see 40hp increase. But we just have to wait for more n/a mods.

the tune is really to optimise the suporting mods that you have on your car to take full advantage of the better air flow you have with the aftermarket parts. there is only so much air you can "force" through a stock system.

honestly most of the time you dont tune a v8 till you get the supporting mods, most people tune the car last after they have the headers intake exhaust midpipes pulley. take a look at the non european v8 systems and how they optimise their power.
Also the majority time if someone throws a tune on their car that is pretty much bone stock needs it for NOS. lol |

Yes, there are limitations, the point I was making was that you can get a tune at any stage of mods. That goes from stock onward.

I am assuming you have a tune? Have you done a baseline dyno run and tune the car and dyno it again in the same day to see the gains on your car specifically? I would never believe any marketing a company does for their tune, i think you may be surprised in the minimal gain that you got by tunning a stock car.
