From what I know, that is illegal in most states.

I am not currently a donor, but then again I am still invincible so it doesn't matter yet That and my liver is probably no better than the alcoholics at this point.

Well, here in America, I know a thing or two about how medicine is practiced. I know I'm right. I have a pretty good handle on the transplant process. Transplant surgeons are not the docs treating the patient, they are called in later, and have no say in the patient care.

I can't speak for Europe.

How about before making a thread like this, you actually go out and experience life in the real world. I don't need some 20 year old to tell me what I should be doing with my body. No one else does either. I love hippies.

I'm sorry but there is no way that you can know that you are right. You might know the transplant process, but unless you can read the mind of every single transplant doc in the world, you cannot say for certain what motivates them or what their priorities are.

So you speak for whole of USA or the whole of the American continent? Europe is a continent made up of many countries who each have there own culture, language & complete different medical make up. So really I don't really understand what your saying when you say " Well here in America" "Cant speak for europe"

Dude, are you serious? You think I'm trying to help China and India by providing US donated organs? No way, thats not even possible and it's their own problem. I'm talking about the US, but China and India could benefit as well if they all signed up

Illegal in what sense? One can donate their entire body to science. The book details the varied uses of bodies that have been donated. Head may go one place, organs another and the torso to somewhere else.

"The doctors make money, the hospitals make money, the organ procurement organizations make money. Everybody gets something except for the donor."

When you have that much money involved in a situation so crucial to your life, I'd be hesitant to put my life in the hands of someone who thinks he can bank off my organs to use in other people.

While I would think most doctors aren't like this, I can't say it for all of them.

Money can make good people do bad things. Regardless of their occupation.

Since the day I got a license I have been a donor. I ride a donor cycle as well.

The recent updated donation registry in Cali lists that your treating physician has no idea whether you are a donor or not. Once you die, then they check the registry to see if you are a donor. I need not tell my family, once I sign the registry (assuming age of majority, which is checked by the registry thru DMV records)

For those of a religious persuation check John 15 "No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends"

I don't want anything more than a pine box anyways, if you can take some parts and put me in a smaller one, save a few bucks and have a hosted bar at my wake.

if you are gonna die, your are gonna die, whether someone gives you a liver or not.

That's such an ignorant and idiotic statement. Do you have any idea what it's like to go through watching someone you love wither away waiting for an organ?

Do you have any idea what's it's like for someone to live through a transplant and appreciate every fucking second of their newfound life?

Maybe when it hits close to home you'll realize what a painful process it is not only for the patient, but for everyone around them. Until then, if you don't know anything about it just keep your mouth shut so you don't sound like a complete buffoon.

I'd like to see you look into your parents/wife/kid's eyes if they are in need of a transplant and say that - "if you are gonna die, you're gonna die"
