Challenge E92/93 M3 carbon door panels

During the construction of IND’s Blue Max project car, we had the pleasure of installing Ericsson’s carbon fiber front door panels. It was a treat just to see this extremely rare part in person, as there are less than a handful of sets worldwide! Unfortunately, the panels were quite difficult to install, and took over 30 hours to install with a perfect factory fit and finish! There were no provisions for mounting, no precut tabs or holes to transfer the OE trim pieces. Overall it was a very involved installation procedure that could have been fixed with some simple modifications to the design.

Fortunately, Challenge Engineering was already working on a solution. The Challenge door panels combine unique character lines based on the OE BMW door panels. Challenge was able to communicate directly with IND’s technician to learn from our experience, and used this knowledge to create a better, easier to work with door panel.

The Challenge Engineering door panels feature complete mounting tabs, marked reliefs that allow for easy transfer of all factory hardware, and a factory-like fit and finish. These panels weigh in at 3.5lbs, which is half of the weight of the factory BMW door panels!

Installation should take about 4-5 hours. You have to take off, and dismantle all the oem parts like the leather panels, speakers, handles etc, and reinstall them on the new Carbon panel. I recomend using a good installer you trust, or qualified aftermarket body shop vs. being a DIY job.

I will have a sales thread up soon. For now I wanted to get some feedback from M3post members. The panels are all ready to go.

So the ambient lights and things will bolt directly on?

No difference, since your airbags are in the seats - not the doors. If anything, the carbon would be stronger than the OEM door cards.

would the cf panels not shatter though?

the rear section looks ridiculous! any ideas on weight savings from replacing the rear seats?

We dont have any immediate plan for E90 doors front and rear, but if someone commissioned us to do it and design some panels, we could take it on here of course.
