Help pls - Dunno where this part go.

Was adding some power steering fluid in my car today and took the opportunity to wipe down the engine bay a bit. I found this weird part stuck in between the headlight and body trim. Can anyone tell me what it is and where it goes?

Some numbers on the part:
  • BMW7787225
  • 61086
  • PA66LGF30

Thanks in advance!

Looks like it has to do with connecting/disconnecting male and female electrical connectors. You slide it in/out and the movement connects/disconnects the two.

Not sure where that one goes though....but I recall seeing similar ones while taking out my ECU.

I hope I'm right and I hope you track down where it goes!

Definately looks like the part that "mates" the male and female connector for you ECU. Lots of experience from my 335i

Thanks guys , that would make sense. My ECU died about a year and a half ago and BMW had my car for over a week waiting for a new ECU to come in from Germany. Whoever took the ECU out probably forgot he wedged it there. Hopefully he replaced it with another one when he put the ECU back in.

I remember on the e36 the stereo had a similar snap in connector design.
