Living in DTLA, I've started to use waterless. I never believed in it until my friend showed me how to use it. It works surprisingly really really well and the Chemical Guys one even has wax in it.

When you are in OC, the Bristol/Baker Cheveron's touchless wash is the best in its class IMHO.

Before dropping the M off in Munich, I used a touchless wash at a gas station around the corner from the drop-off zone. It was the length of a trailer truck and it was sublime! Haven't found anything as good in SoCal yet.
Glad you liked the El Segundo one. I went that Saturday after you LOL. I'm hardly in that part of OC...as for the LA area thouchless, I haven't found one better than that Gardena one, plus discounted gas helps...

In Irvine for a self-service car wash, this one is my favorite: All Hands Car Wash. The address is

3091 Edinger Ave
Tustin, CA 92780

You can get there by driving Irvine Center Dr North West until it changes to Edinger after the overpassing highway (Jamboree).

The equipment is good and so is the price. For $5 you get about 5-10 minutes of self-service, enough to get the dust of your car. I have had my brand new 2013 M3 E93 there twice now and I'm happy with the service they provide.

There are numerous raves about his products on this forum.

Also, he sells his car wash products for when you have time to self wash. 5 Stars.Stars.
Spoke with him at bimmerfest a few years back and he was really helpful, even with my noob questions.

There's a great self-wash by LAX I use for regular washes. Nothing like washing your car and hearing jets take off.

To give my car a treat, I give it the rock star treatment at Lavaggio. No other place even comes close to how well they treat your car. Top notch service, your car will look better than new, and lunch included. You can't beat the experience. Ask for Dustin or Lydia and tell them BMW Josh sent you

I take my car to a touch-free gas station wash near my house... Then hit it with detailer spray and a soft microfiber when I get home. May not be the absolute best approach but it takes very little time.
