New M3 from dealer bought as CPO, but it's not!!
Hello all! First post with my 12' M3. I bought this car from a very reputable dealer in South Florida... Braman BMW in West Palm Beach, just a few weeks ago. I was assured this car was a CPO.. and it turns out they screwed up and it's NOT!! So It turns out I negotiated for, and overpaid for, this car. I've owned 3 M3's and an M6 and put a lot of value in a BMW CPO'd car.. so I 'm annoyed! I also traded away a very low mileage and great condition 2012 M6 for this... AND bought my wife a2013 conv. 318 the same day!! So the price of that car was part of the negotiations!! Any whoooo.. got to extract some "value" from this from dealer.. any ideas?

Wow man, really sorry to hear about this.
Do you still have your sales paperwork with it listed as a CPO vehicle? If I was you I would personally start with bringing that and a calm, respectful attitude straight to the dealership's manager. If they're as reputable as you say I would hope that they would care enough to do something. If I encountered resistance I'd call BMW North America and ask them to immediately escalate you to a supervisor. Hope they do right by you. Good luck! |

How can you tell it's not CPO now vs when you bought it?

Have been asking for CPO paperwork.. they can't produce it!! And are telling me it's an "accounting" issue... and the CPO is not showing up.
I've bought 6 cars from them... and have ALWAYS had a great experience. So when my salesman told me it was a CPO, I believed him!! Never looked at the paperwork when I bought it. |

The paper work that you signed should have a page where you signed and agreed that the is NO warrantee express or implied. IF you signed such, it is probably over!

This might be true!! I'm a signer of paperwork when I buy a car.. not a reader!! So I might be up the creek without a paddle 😆 I'm 100% sure my salesman just made a mistake... he's been a great Rep for the Dealer... and the Dealer has always been great to me... I think they just screwed up !! Not malicious at all!

Give them a chance to CPO it and correct the mistake. Be cordial and polite.
If this drags on, and they keep playing dumb, get a lawyer to explore your options.

That's what I'm doing....only option I'm thinking about is an option where they don't CPO it and ask me what I want in return? I could probably return it to them and figure out a refund... or have them throw me some freebies, brake job..tires... oil change etc |

If you're cordial and approach it from point of view of I'm sure there's been a mistake that's easily correctable, often times people will work with you. If you approach from anger, other people tend to get defensive and go the route of "you signed it, you knew, therefore it's your problem". You have two other things in your favor, one is you're a long-standing good customer and two is your ability if necessary to go up to food chain at the dealership and then if necessary pursue legal action. Whatever you do, I hope it works out. |

Maybe you can get them to sell you an after market warranty at cost?

Not worth it. Get them to CPO the car, unless the car is literally ineligible (which I would want to see proof of).

Just fyi, you can always call BMW (or any other manufacturer) and confirm CPO status, incl. expiration date, which is especially important when you buy 'demos' or any other cases of non-titled/late titled cars.

I dont get it.
The car was probably bought new in 2011, so original manufacturer warranty is till year of 2015. If it is cpo'd, it would only extend upto year of 2017 now. Whats the point of cpo now? Ask for new tires or brake job instead? |

Dealership here in Charlotte typically does not CPO M cars because it is more expensive for an M car compared to a non-M BMW. Are CPO M cars common or uncommon?

Stop freaking out and !!!!! ing. You need to just bring this to the managements attention an ask for some form of resolution. Start with a desk manager, if that go's nowhere ask for the GM. Im sure GM/SalesManager will make it right if you have purchased six cars from them..
Fucking humans baffle me. |

If they're actually reputable and true to their word, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. The right thing for them to do would be to take care of you and make it right, so until they show they're going to do otherwise, I'd let it go.
