How to tell which tune my E92 has

Good afternoon all, so I purchased my 08 E92 privately and PO stated it had a small tune to code out the front cat engine code since it has a full akro exhaust. PO was unsure of the specifics of the tune, I was curious if there is a way to figure out which one it was?

Thanks,
Chris

Take it to the dealer and request a DME software update.

Don't really want to pay the stealership any money, What does the DME update even do? googlefu'd and seems most dealers don't want to mess with that update out of warranty.

You may be able to contact a vendor on here and they might be able to help you! Does the OP not have a receipt from purchasing the tune? Or was it from a local shop that dabbled in "tuning"?

best to start fresh with a tuner that has a good rep.
I'm in a similar situation and that's what I plan to do.

It sounds like the PO did not have the tune done himself (he would have remembered who did it if he had the tune done himself) but if you can track down the owner that actually did the tune that would certainly help. Do you have the service records for the car? The other owner(s) name(s) would likely appear there. Whoever spent the big bucks for a full Akra exhaust most likely got a quality tune. It probably does a lot more than just dealing with the front cat delete. If you just want to know...just to know, then that's your best bet. If the car runs well I don't know that I'd want the tune erased (which is what a DME software update would do). Otherwise, you can do as others have suggested and get a new tune for ~$300ish....which might be no better or worse than your current tune.

Aha!!! Yea I did see that. Someone sent it to me a week or two ago and I couldn't believe my eyes. I'm seeing numbers thrown around @ $1,000 for the big players. Dinan obviously being a big player also I couldn't figure out why so low. Good eye rdoctor, I imagine those without a tune will be investigating. To add to what rdoctor said, tuning companies typically keep Vin#'s. So you should be able to shoot all of the tuning companies that advertise here and ask if they have a record of it. If it was done remotely then they will most likely have it on file as the cord is registered to the Vin and they keep track of it. If it was done in person and the tuner kept the cord then they may not have a file on record. My E92 was done in person therefore the tuner did not have it on file. They did however remember the car due to some interesting reasons and confirmed that it had been their tune. If any of my statement is incorrect I'm happy to be educated.

Ya know. I just had my ECU reflashed at the dealer to the latest version. Anyone know what changes that created?

I think I am going to get the Dinan DME and DCT software. If I have the latest Factory DME software is the Dinan stuff an improvement?

I am guessing this was the case, iirc all that was done was code out the cel that wouldve been thrown from missing front cats.

Ill have to go through all the paperwork I got from PO. I would put money on whoever bought the full akro to be the one to get the tune. I can't imagine spending 6.5k on an exhaust.
