I watched the whole 30+ min video and my heart hurt the whole time. His attitude to the situation is amazing. This is a very strong willed and passionate person and I have no doubt he will recover faster then others. I love how optimistic he is about using this situation to make his garage larger..

My hat is off to you pal..

Many of these areas in and around Houston had never flooded before, even during prior hurricanes with heavy rain. Because of that these folks felt safe to stay home and leave their cars in the garage... There is always a first time.

I have friends in Houston. You would have had to prepare well ahead of time. They said you would have needed to move your cars out days before the rain started. Most people didn't think it would flood so badly and they didn't get any evacuation orders. By the time it became obvious there would be trouble, it wasn't possible to move things around. Roads were jammed, parking garages overflowing, etc.

Good point, here in Florida most people did do what they could to protect their vehicles. The problem is that we are talking about millions of vehicles. There's not enough parking garages etc... to protect every vehicle. But I would say from what I could see, a large number of people left the state with their vehicles and a large number did what they could to get their vehicles to higher ground. Only a small percentage left their vehicles unprotected and even a smaller amount would have been affected if we had had Houston type of flooding.
