I just looked at that video again. That driver doesn't reach the RPM range when it's really really raspy, which is 3500-4000 RPM.

IMO, you can be cost effective and get good sound. Just go Megan or buy a used exhaust. Yea they are a couple of hundred bucks more, but that's the way to go I think.

Here are my videos of OEM mod +Turner test pipes.

This rear section is a friend's though so I didn't keep it. Currently I'm using the megan rear section with the same x pipe. This was just an experiment to see how it would sound. It's on the louder side with a little bit of rasp, just the way I prefer it.

OEM Mod (Perforated Method). Test Pipes just bring out so much unnecessary noise IMO.

Dinan + test pipes sounds fantastic with no drone or smell. Not as amazing as the full Dinan exhaust I rode along in (best sounding M3 I've ever heard), but the catless setup was stinky and I perceived an annoying resonance at ~3K RPM.

I honestly don't notice anything. If something annoyed me...I would definitely pick up on it and tell ya. I loveeee my mod. I wanted the look of dual cans in the back, but no exhaust can hold a candle to how mine sounds.

+1 for Megan.

I have MS test pipes with Megan axle back and it is INCREDIBLE. No drone, sounds mean as hell and doesn't get annoying ever and I'm not a noise junky. Only time it is ridiculously loud is at cold start, but that doesn't bother me.

Spot on ! 100% agreed this is my favorite exhaust setup
If i only could do this install. the testpipes...but damn this country and the yearly car inspection ...would fail no doubt !
Have now the 2 perforated Oem.exhaust mod. and love it !
But here is my favorite...again !..... BTW....headphone on !
