Review of "No Holes" License Plate Bracket

I am pleased with the packaging and quality of the product. At $59, I was impressed with how solid all of the parts are. The kit came with all the necessary screws and washers to mount the bracket right into the tow hook opening on the front bumper. Took me about 15 min. It also came with an allen key to help get some of those screws in. There were directions with colored pictures to help me with the install. It was very easy to read and understand. Even thought this may look like a no-brainer install, it was still helpful to see some pictures and have a little direction. The only tool I needed at home was a wrench to tighten everything.

After a couple of canyon runs with some serious vibrations and heavy turning, braking, and acceleration, I noticed that the bracket was fully intact with my license plate still firmly attached. I wiggled it around to see if anything has loosened, but every screw and bold was firmly in place, including the main 19mm bolt that secured into the tow hook hole.

I used a little WD40 on the screws to help prevent seizing. I guess I will find out how that worked out once I find I need to remove the bracket.

This bracket flows nicely with the M and does not stick out very much at all. I actually have a couple of washers between the license plate and the main bolt going into the tow hook hole just to make sure I wouldn’t get the license plate too close to the front bumper. So it is possible to get the license plate even closer to the bumper. I still have enough room to adjust the screws if I have to.

Overall, I am pleased with the purchase; a good use of cash to help prevent license plate tickets. I highly recommend this product, especially in areas where tickets are frequently written even while the car is parked, like in LA.

Looks pretty good, although it'd have been much nicer if the main bracket/stud was cut at the bumper's angle, so it could sit much closer to the bumper, with equal gaps at both sides.

Another disadvantage is even a minor bump would probably pierce the bumper with those sharp angles, but definitely better than drilling the bumper. This should be a relatively cheap bracket, compared to others I've seen. And yes, post details please.

This is one of those things that you hate to do but do anyways, to get out of those tickets.

The brackets are made by gominigo and are available directly from gominigo or from some of our M3Post suppliers. My experience is that gominigo's customer service is excellent.

Its very easy actually. I just took a thin flathead screwdriver, wrapped it in a microfiber towel and stuck it in the groove between the tow hook cover and the bumper.

It popped right out easily and caused no damage. Im sure there are other ways, but this was easiest for me.

Insert a small flat blade screwdriver (the one that came in your car's toolkit is the perfect size). in the seam at the bottom of the plug and use the screwdriver to wedge it out. There is a a fairly large integrated "L" brkt on the top side of the plug.

Those are the 20" Alloy Technic Mesh. Very light weight and runs around $4500-$4800 I believe. They won't make 19s until there is more demand .

I have been ticketed maybe 3 times in my life for no front plate. Once on a prior car, once parked. All of the times I got out of the ticket, less the small $20 or so administrative fee because such tickets are "fix it" tickets. I literally taped my plate on with the double sided and masking tape hidden behind the plate, got the ticket signed off and viola, right off with the plate again.

I won't bother with anything like this, it just is not worth it.

I have this kit as well and I like it for 2 reasons...

first it mounts the plate on the car with ease and its easy to take on and off.

the second reason ( and more importantly) keeps the cops away from needlessly getting pulled over. Even with simple mods, the cops can send you to a state ref, even if they see an exhaust or some carbon fiber under the hood. Trust me...its happened to me in my previous car.

Why bother with the hassle? Not worth bothering.

Thats cool if thats how you want to handle your fix it tickets. I would rather not get them in the first place.

Is it easy for people to unscrew this and steal it? LOL. a little paranoid, but people in LA steal everything thats steal-able these days. (especially german OEM parts like BMW headlights and airbags)

I guess anything could be stolen. but if you install it correctly, it screws on pretty tight and it is hard to get to. (don't think that it will be worth the trouble of stealing).

Some of us in chicago, get ticketed up to 3 times on the same street and this really helps stay away from the $$$ tickets.

Hate the plate in the front, but it is a good investment for the DD.

Heck I would rather not get tickets as well but for this case as with most things in life there are trade-offs. For me the benefit of being able to not vomit when I look at any part of the front view of my car exceeds the hassle threshold induced by an occasional (say once a year or less) trip to the Po Po station and the $15 dollar fine. OK a bit of sarcasm there but you will get my point (my aesthetic judgement). We each have our thresholds, mine is obviously different than yours. Cheers.
