Bird Droppings Fractured Etching on Opticoat Pro

Hi All,

I just had my e90 wrapped with xpel on the front end and opticoat all around.

I recently had a massive bird dropping invasion of some sort in my garage and i was away on business. Came back in shock. Did not find a nest at all.

I washed the car with the least amount of contact as i could.

End result on the hood (see attached).

How would I go about to take care of this? In addition, one on my trunk has marring and looks a bit hazy.

Are you asking how to take care of it?

Sorry my mobile app is terrible... edited post above. But yes. How do I take care of this? I had this opti-coat pro and xpel applied from Detailers Domain. I haven't received a response from them yet. I was under the impression that the opti-coat pro formula is resisntant to this type of damage.

It's definitely not invincible, but I am surprised bird bombs etched through the opti coat. Just wait for Phil's reply back. Most likely it will need a super minor polish in that area with reapplication.

Toxic bird bombs, been there done that lol.

I would try a few different processes first. Don't go with the most aggressive treatment first start small and work your way up.

Light duty:
-Megs m205 on orange pad (Prob to light of cut and pointless, but here is info none the less)
-Megs m105 on white pad
-Megs m105 on Orange pad

FInish with Megs 205 or Menzerna Super Finish on white at 3800 rpm

Heavy duty steps:
water sand the spot and a small bit of the surrounding area (1500 then 2500)
Megs 105/ Menzerna SIP on orange to cut the sanding marks
megs 205/ menzerna Super Finish on white to cut haze and gloss it up

These were just the steps I took and it worked great for me. I reapplied my Opticoat on the whole hood just to make sure I had a uniform look.

So basically i spent 1.5 k on a paint correct and opticoat pro to have bird droppings ruin the opticoat pro. only 2 weeks later and need to get a reapplication -.-

I had a similar experience where birds bombarded the roof of my car. The droppings were there for not more than one day and I found the OptiCoat etched right where the droppings hit. My reaction was just like yours and I contacted the detailer who applied the OptiCoat. Per his recommendation I left the car out in the sun for a few hours and voila, the etching disappeared completely. You might want to try that before undertaking another application/polishing/etc., if you have not already.

i had a bird dump on my hood during the day (not in direct sunlight) and when i went home and wiped it off/cleaned it the damage was done. the spot is there and can only be removed by wet sanding. (i've had the hood proff polished and it did not remove the stain).

damn birds.
