Sorry to hear about your ordeal. Props for not losing it. I'd have lost it. Hope you get your car back to original shape.
This got me thinking. With all the freakin' technology out there, why can't we have an option of having hidden cameras take video while car is parked. Have it erase daily/weekly and download it in case things happen. I think it'd be worth it to keep vandals away and have piece of mind when leaving vehicles in precarious areas even for a moment. We've got rear view cameras, bird's eye view for when parallel parking, why is this not possible???

Very depressing to see this happening period.
Sorry OP. Hope it gets fixed and will look like new again. This is another reminder of all the psychos/losers out there. Every time I leave my car in public I go a little paranoid...

Agree, gives credence to everyone's paranoia when parking publicly, and takes away from simply enjoying these cars. People just suck sometimes.

I feel your pain, and I've definitely been down the "it will never be the same" road before. My car has endured several valet-related incidents, all of which have required a complete repainting of the various affected panels. With a complex color like Silverstone, you'd think that the car would be a hodgepodge mess of mismatched panels. This was my fear, at least.
I have to say, the paint matching technology has come a long way. The high-end shops are very, very good at repairs of this variety. I've tried my best to identify a difference - bright light, low light, etc. - no matter how I look at it, I cannot see a single discernible difference. So take a deep breath, try to relax, and trust in the shop that is going to handle the repair. If they're good at what they do, you should soon enough find yourself in my shoes - i.e., having forgotten that any damage happened in the first place. Best of luck.

Sorry OP, hope she gets repaired as good as new. Thanks for sharing and being the better person, not letting it get to you.

It may have to be totally replaced - de-bonded with heat and prying and have a totally new panel rebonded. It appears to be clear coated but the German trained tech at Penske said that it is just pure resin from the CF molding and a typical clear coat is not necessarily compatible. If it needs to be replaced they will need alignment tooling shipped down from the BMW receiving center in Oxnard...
Still trying to keep my cool about the whole thing...

Sad, and sadder still that it's not surprising. Just more of the "eat the rich" attitude that is growing in this country. I see more and more envy and entitlement in this country as I get older.
I'd love to catch the mofo in the act and key a big "M3" into his forehead-- with a fork. |

Extremely depressing photos. I had my wife's E53 X5 keyed once while having dinner with a friend.
I am sure you will get a very good paint job done where ever you may take it. I am glad you are dealing with it better than you expected. Hope you get your car back in excellent condition. Good Luck!

I felt anxiety reading this thread. I had a van keyed ones and that almost put me on Ativan what more on an m3. All I can say is if you have one single doubt parking in a certain place specially for long periods. DON'T DO IT!
