I'd rather have an AMG Merc or even an Audi before one of those personally.

By whom? Their recommendations seem pretty close to the anecdotal evidence you find on the forums and what's reported in the news.

For example, Ford had displaced the Japanese automakers a few years ago in reliability. Now I hear about a ton of Ford issues on new including Chinese-sourced transmissions; and see that reflected in the latest CR. We all knew Toyota would fix their nagging reliability issues after issuing a public apology; they have, and that's reflected as well.

I think you are in the wrong forum with this question. You need to be in Jaguar forum. I don't think many of us drove the new XFR and to compare both the M3 and the XFR is not possible yet.

I do, however, have an idea. My Granturismo is going in for a routine service and a tune from the dealer to add a few horses and a few torques. They told me that "the cheapest rental car you will ever get is a jaguar!" I think I'm going to request the XFR as a rental car..
Isn't the XFR a bit too similar to the GranTurismo?

That blue XFR-S is a sexy car. The big wing belongs more on home on a STI though. Just saw a video and only 100 are being sold in the US

Man, for what it's worth, I think you are just experiencing some "grass is greener (and maybe newer)" fever. My wife has a Land Rover (same genetics), and that thing is a pile of garbage. I mean seriously, it is THE worst experience I have ever had with a vehicle. Period. It is only a 2010, and it has been in the shop more often than not, during our period of ownership.

Don't get me wrong, I happen to think that Jag makes some really good-looking cars, and they're fast and powerful and smooth, and all that good stuff. But at the end of the day, it will be a very long time before I partake of a Brit make again.

You gotta live while you're alive, for sure. Just be aware of that grass is greener mentality, and the flip side of that grass, as well.

Oh yeah, and they...are...kinda...old-manish... Sorry! Just don't forget to pull your white socks all the way up to your knees when you get out, and all will be fine! Good luck!

I'd say get an M5 over the XFR, but just priced one out and the M5 is about 15K more with options. Most of options are standard with the jag which is nice.

OP, if u want a car that goes like that, do yourself a favor and get an M5. Otherwise, it's pointless comparing it to an M3.

Have you considered the M6 Gran Coupe....quite possibly the hottest looking 4-door on the planet IMO, with all the performance.

The XF-R is much less money. And for the second sentence, it proves how subjective looks are. I think the 6 series Gran Coupe is damn near the ugliest car presently being built.

Just my opinion. I've never been impressed with their reviews.

Consumer Reports is a nonprofit organization that does not accept advertising. So is the CEO taking bribes then coercing the staff to falsify or bias their reports. If so do the staff likely get hush money? I find CR opinions on cars boring but unbiased.

Jags don't get respect in the US but having lived in the UK, they are allllmost Aston level over there..their newer models have cast away the idea only 70year olds get them...can't comment on reliability though...but the new models look petty sick...never driven one though.

I went to a Jaguar driving event a few months back. I think Jag has come a long way under Tata in India. The cars drove nicely, but not really for me. Only the X-KRS I would consider, but for that price, no way. Before we drove, they gave us about a 20 minute film and discussion, and talked up the reliability as well as the workmanship and fit and finish, as compared to just a few years ago.

while i absolutely agree with this statement, the cls63 is a stunner as well. i would have a hell of a hard time deciding between these 2 cars if I can be so lucky.

But I would only consider Jaguar for a short lease, just don't trust the brand as far as reliability and depreciation.
