First oil change and oil analysis

Tomorrow I'm Planning on doing my first oil change since buying my M3 back in December. I'm not sure how many miles are on the oil but I know its probably not more then 7K miles.

Do you guys have any advice on the best way to take the oil sample or should I just go by the directions they gave me?

You just catch the oil from the rear sump mid stream....
