Takes me 5 minutes to do the update for those interested.
I have seen 200E, 220E, 231E, and 240E. I don't recall seeing 210E. So 200E is three (or four, if 210E does exist) versions behind 240E. There are no mapping changes I see that would prevent bucking when cold. A lot of this is pilot induced (although it's not really the drivers fault). Turning the cold start off all the way reduces this by a very large margin. With the cold start on, I can make my car buck with throttle input, or I can carefully 'manage' my throttle position which almost totally eliminates it.

From a stop at wot it was fine. At like 75% throttle it would buck. At 50% throttle it was fine. I think I can still get it to buck if I let it, but the update really helps. I think when it bucks now it just does it a little. It's been raining here lately so I haven't gotten to drive real fast, although I've been trying, safely of course. |

I asked 2 different dealers to perform updates to all of my systems citing the actual conditions for the updates to no avail. I am having coding done and updated every module in my e92 at that time. F*CK BMW SD.I have found them on other issues in the past on my old e46 as well. Ridiculous. AND they put significant miles each time it's there >20.
So is 240E still the latest then? If there is a new one, I may as well flash it now. Last edited by spr; 12-14-2012 at 11:48 AM.. |

Yes, any aftermarket flash or OEM update that specifically targets the DME will wipe out existing programming. Quote:

Dealer upgraded software to latest version. Originally was going to charge me an hour of labor since it was not really a "necessary" service but was willing to do it.
Since I had the car in for an EDC module malfunction, dealer flashed new software at no cost since they had to code in the new EDC module anyway. Module service was covered under warranty. New software really smoothed out the engine and eliminated some partial throttle hesitation/missing experienced at lower than optimal gear speeds. That coupled with transmission and diff fluid service makes the car feel buttery smooth. |
