Who is up for a Sunday Drive?
I was thinking about doing Angeles Crest Hwy or maybe GMR.
R8 needs to stretch its legs a bit |

Damn, should have posted this yesterday. I did Hughes Lake Road from Santa Clarita to Lancaster and then cut all the way over to San Simeon, did PCH up to Big Sur and then turned around and did it again back to San Simeon.

Damn, push it back 2 weeks! My car's at the dealership since the defective tranny is (finally) being replaced.
But I do GMR pretty often, so I'm always down for that. |

Yea, GMR is pretty fun. I've done 2 runs with BimmerPost guys, and many with just my close friends.

Yea you could say the R8 is very much in its element on a road like that
We did GMR and encountered one or 2 other cars on the road, one of the reasons I love this drive I have another drive a bit longer I'd like to do again soon, probably a solid 2 hrs of white knuckle driving |

lv: Thanks again for the invite. It was a day I will not soon forget. Driving this road should be made mandatory for all M3 owners, but to shadow an R8 at an aggressive pace through the turns was an absolute blast! We were also very fortunate that there was virtually no other traffic.
Outside temps were 104 at the East Fork. Next time I'll consider making the run in the early a.m. Despite the heat, the Brembos did not give a hint of fade at the limit. The newly purchased set of PS2's stuck to the ground extremely well around the corners, but I realized when I got home that an aggressive day on that road takes its toll on the rubber in a big way. FYI: There have been a couple of serious accidents since GMR has re-opened. Let's keep it safe out there so CHP doesn't have to start restricting us. Though seldom traveled, this is a public road with an occasional bicyclist or vehicle. Stay in your lanes and use some common sense around blind turns, etc. good times

I run GMR maybe 3-4 times a week and wow, some of the strangest things happen up there at night. Day time and early AM is much better than night time.

From what I understand there are alot of knuckleheads up there at night, I would be tempted to drive it at night at a reduced rate though
