What is this "fall off the record" business you guys are talking about? Insurane companies keep records of your driving history, including tickets and accidents, for far longer than that.

Yikes! I paid about $1200 a year through State Farm with 100/300 coverage, plus U/I motorist, etc. for my '08 and '11.5 M3's. I'm 34 now, but even when I purchased my first of many M3's in 2003, I still wasn't paying $500-600 a month (..it was less than a couple hundred), and I was 24 at the time with no accidents, but plenty of speeding tickets. I live on So.Cal for reference. Age had less of an effect on my insurance (..referring to the 25+ comments), but years licensed, no accidents, etc. had much more of an effect. When I did have an accident in '06, my insurance spiked by about $125 per 6 month renewal period. I was glad when that accident fell off.

This! State Farm is also the go-to for motorcycle coverage. I paid about $20 a month to insure my Ducati 848 and Suzuki GSXR 600. Last edited by Sedan_Clan; 06-17-2013 at 04:58 PM.. |

$1000 deductibles? Terrible. I pay $486/6 months for maximum coverage with a $250 deductible. I do credit Oregon for helping--moving from Washington dropped my rate a lot, oddly.
25 did result in a huge drop for me. |
