I think they were two separate criticisms of blowers, specifically non-intercooled ones: voiding warranty and heat soak.

If a motor equipped with headers grenades, I think the warranty is probably in jeopardy anyway. And I think heat soak on the non intercooled blowers is not as big a deal as it's made out to be.

It really depends on where you live. It most definitely is a big deal in southern Florida during summer months. The humidity plus the temperature makes the air hold onto a lot of heat.

Probably around 30. Full x-pipe is around 20 and tune around 10, but results vary a little.

Cams would be another expensive, labor intensive mod.

If I had $5k, I'd be looking at a used supercharger kit. That would not buy intercooled, but I don't track and live in New England. I already have x-pipe, intake, pulley, and Vishnu procede with meth, but have not dynoed so I don't know what I make now -- probably somewhere in the 375-400 range. My software may be original 2008, so I should update that sometime if I can find an autologic dealer or someone in my area who will do if for a reasonable price.

Headers ... I think the train left that station in the early 70's. Can't imagine a bigger waste of time and money. And the next buyer will run when they see that mod.

Cams shouldn't be labor intensive. Stock ones flow very well though. Even the 600whp+ setups are fine with stock cams.

I bought my VF540 kit used, you just gotta keep your eye out

Huh? LTs usually flow very well compared to shortys. Our headers flow very well stock, but I'd bet a set of LTs will outflow them considerably. It may not be as much of a deal while N/A (still 20-30hp is nothing to sneeze at), but I think the S/C cars might pick up even more. The S/C cars will also lose 1psi or so from them, allowing them to pulley down a bit and gain even more power.

Seriously? How long does it take you to change 4 cams and retime two sets of dual vanos? I have done a few 2 cam single vanos jobs, which is much easier, and that takes me a couple of hours. I have also done a few inline 6 header swaps and those take me several hours for the swap assuming no broken bolts or studs.

It's where the power is made. Long tubes make more torque

Our headers aren't shorties, they are a mid-length design. This is a shorty..

Miatas also came with tubular manifold from the factory and conventional wisdom was there wS not much to be gained there either. Until people found 10+hp and even more torque with a good custom header. Always room for improvement ignoring diminishing returns of course
