iDrive Possessed by Demons??
I'm convinced small gerbils are trapped inside my iDrive making random and odd changes to my settings.
It doesn't happen all the time. But, say I'm in making a change to my M Settings. I adjust the power setting to sport.....then notice my steering setting is on a different setting. I have other examples of this happening where I make an adjustment inside a settings menu (not just the M settings) and it randomly changes another setting in another menu. Anyone else have a similar experience? Should I perform an exorcism? Car is a 2012 with upgraded audio w/ 5,000km. |

Are you using both sets of keys? Each set of keys stores the settings the car was in when last used and resets to those settings.
Please don't get offended if you already knew this, just first thing that popped into my head. |

Your idrive is possessed AND gerbils are trapped inside? Isn't that covered under warranty? And i don't know what to say about your settings. Maybe in order to have one setting another setting has to be a particular setting? I know with mine I can't change it to S6 without traction control off.

Gents, thanks for the feedback.
It's either demons or gerbils, I'm still trying to figure out. I didn't know that about the key fob storing personal settings (this car is brilliant, isn't it?) but, I always use the same key when driving. My initial thought was BMW makes "default" or "relational" changes within menus when you adjust certain settings within iDrive (like the DSC forced off setting mentioned in a previous post) but mine seem to be quite random and unrelated. Another example was the car "automatically" dimmed my internal dash lighting a few days ago forcing me to go in and bump up the dash brightness manually...another was my 3-click turn signal feature was randomly disabled causing me to search through the menus to find it again and reinstate the feature. This thread was intended to confirm whether or not these are quirks experienced within the BMW community or perhaps the sign of a software issue with my car. I'm going to chalk it up to the latter and take it by the dealership. As was recommended, it might just need a software update. The other possibility is that I, in fact, have a split personality who drives my car from time to time playing with my settings. Thanks again. |
