In that case... theres always the universal ones which strap on to the headrests and come off when not needed. I also recommend the E90 if you don't already have a car or one on order. The styling isn't much less sporty, and the back doors are a huge back saver.

Most car audio shops ought to be able to install headrest monitors and a video system that should work for the '08 cars. For '09 things might not work out because BMW is now using an "active" head restraint. If you look at the rear monitors that BMW puts in the 7 series you will see that they are on a separate mount, not on the front seat headrests. You may need to do something like this if you have an '09+.

What exactly does the active headreast consist of? I thought it had more to do with the structure of the headrest more than anything. How would that prevent the installation of monitors?

I do agree that I probably wouldn't do this in an M3. It just doesn't flow with the rest of the car. If you must, I doubt you will find anything manufactured. It would have to be a custom job and its going to be hard to match the leather if you need to get a custom wrap done.

Our kid's either use a portable DVD player or a laptop on long drives. I know it is not the same thing, but most people I know that have had built in DVD players have had huge problems with them. You can get a kit to make the 09 play DVD's while driving if you want to go that route.

Get your kids a couple of Apple iTouch, cheaper and won't mess up your headrests. Not to mention they play games, and are portable beyond the car.
