Agree. It sounds a bit too much like an E46 M3 with the rasp.

Any more feedback on sounds both quality and level?

I had an E46 M3 and it is not quite like it. The sound of factory muffler with x-pipe wouldn't produce the same deep tone and loudness like after market muffler, not even close. It is definitely louder and more aggressive than stock, probably by 50%. Not as loud as some people might want. I would say this x-pipe with factory muffler produced 1/3 the noise level of an aftermarket sport(not race) exhaust.

I am not quite ready for loud exhaust yet, coz i'm okay with the current set-up. It would probably sound much more aggressive if the x-pipe has an aftermarket exhaust set-up. Maybe in the near future once I found a vendor.

I will be at Fabspeed either Wednesday or Thursday of next week listening to a couple X-pipes they are installing. Can't wait to hear them... If I like what I hear, I'll be the next one in for the install.

I did a similar mod with the X5 4.6 by cutting out a resonator and adding an X-pipe. It only cost $200 total at Mesa Muffler on Harbor Blvd. Just something to consider. They did a great job and it only took a few hours.

I wonder if leaving the resonators would take away that bit of rasp.

That's the million dollar question. You get around 15HP with the secondary cats removed and about 25 HP with both removed.

Where are the vids!?!?

I'm having second thoughts and this absence of video proof of its awesomeness is not helping!

However, while we've got you on the line- care to share week after reviews?
I'm wondering, has the exhaust lost the deep tone in the low rpms?

My father has an M5 with a Tubi muffler and it has absolutely no rumble. Up high it sounds like a ferrari, but it has nothing in the low's and I'm worried about losing that with the X-pipe- any feeling on that?

Hmmm...there's a little less rumble in the very low rpm range, but it still sounds like a V-8 after 2k and really screams towards redline. I need mufflers though; I'm think Remus Sport to keep it fairly mellow and stock looking. I took a couple of videos this weekend (disclaimer: wife was operating it...she's not the best photographer). Shoot me your e-mail and I'll send them to you.
