Turn Signal Lights on the E92 M3

I wanted to change those front turn signal lights...the OEM orange light to a WHITE light to give my lighting system a cleaner more synchronized look. Any ideas? Possibly also the Rear Turn Signal Light and the side M3 vent lights.

Until the early 1960s, most front turn signals worldwide emitted white light and most rear turn signals emitted red. Amber front turn signals were voluntarily adopted by the auto industry in the USA for most vehicles beginning in the 1963 model year, though front turn signals were still permitted to emit white light until FMVSS 108 took effect for the 1968 model year, whereupon amber became the only permissible colour for front turn signals. Side turn signals must also be amber. Only in the rear do you have the choice of red or amber, though amber has been shown to be safer. So, if you want your car to look pre-1968 and be illegal, go for it. Gives the law a reason to pull you over even if no other infraction is noted.

The E92s use a specific fit bulb for the headlight that is not available in aftermarket form at the moment.

We do offer LED Turn Signal Bulbs for the rear turn signal that blink in either amber or xenon white. You need 7507 with resistors.

Of course, you do sell the white ones with an exclaimer that they are for "off road use" only! Seriously, I don't want to give any law enforcement more excuses to pull me over. Seems like that mod will stand out to those officers who are up on their vehicle code.

I have the white front and side turn signals on my E90 335xi which was easy to change. Over the year, I never had any problem with LE pulling over for the color of the turn signals, but I know I'm only an N of 1.

On the E9X M3, you can't replace the side turn signals because the LED is soldered on to the circuit board. You have to break open the housing to get at it.

Also, the front turn signals are PY24W. There are no direct replacement for as of now. I know that JLeviSW has been in the development for a while but still hasn't come out with something in working order.

It might just be easier to do the amber delete mod on the headlight harness instead.

I'd be just as concerned about getting pulled over for lack of front plate as opposed to the color of an (optional) side turn indicator bulb! You are aware that OR requires front and rear plates, right?

Yes, of course. But, it's a secondary offense in Oregon, as the lights probably are, as well. But, Portland meter patrol shows no mercy, at $35 per pop.

Personally I like the more clean/unified look of white side flashers as well. I did that mod on my E36 M3 and a cop did call me on it once. Although it was not what he pulled me over for. I lied and said I bought the car that way and he didn't give me a ticket for that or anything else. One of the very rare circumstances where I got off completely.

i went and bought a new set of bulbs myself to see what can be done to make them invisible.

here's the bulb:

BMW OEM part:

Bulb under normal light:

Bulb in lower light (inside it's box):

as you can see, the bulb is already reflective, just not reflective enough. these bulbs are quite pricey, so i'm still figuring out what to do to get these to be less orange.
