Left Brake Lamp Malfunction
How many of you are getting the error from time to time "Left Brake Lamp Malfunction?" Ever since I put on my Gintani axle-back (loud) the error is more frequent. Anyone know the fix?

Did your dealer replace the bulb housings? It's a quite common issue.
Best regards, south

Yup, got it a month ago. Took it in to the dealer but it was gone by then. They told me to bring it in when it happens again lol.. hasn't happened yet so I'm glad.

Its a recall, I got the new housings maybe 4 months ago, I had the same problem the corner brake lamp would go out every now and again, so I'd replace them only to later realize it was the base that was broken

Yep, got it a bunch of times earlier this summer... Haven't had the chance to take it to dealer and haven't gotten it again in past couple of months. As others said there is a recall on housing

Got it a bunch of times on my old E92 335xi as well. Dealer was not able to replicate it so it was just left alone.

How can we verify if there is a recall to justify replacement to the dealer? I have had that issue, and it gets extremely annoying when the I-Drive screen is always giving me a warning indicator but I can't replicate it at the dealer.

It sounds like a service bulletin. At any rate, I haven't seen the problem.

I was under the impression we had just ONE brake filament per side (plus the LED 3rd brake light, of course). Are there 2?
At any rate, it should be an easy job to access the bulb and check the housing, no? Haven't heard of this problem (or service bulletin) until now. I wouldn't bother to take my car to a dealer for a freaking bulb, but if housing is broken/defective, no choice I guess. |

Got right brake lamp malfunction warning last night. I thought it would go away on it's own but same warning this morning...
How long did it take the dealer to fix the problem? |
