What would cause one rear tire to wear on the inside tread?

I knew my I had been pushing my PS2's too long (just passed 20k miles) but 95% of those miles are commuting. I just noticed that the driver's side rear was badly worn (as in I had to stop driving it) on the inside tread. The passenger side rear is in need of replacement but the tread is worn perfectly even across the tire. By the way, the fronts are also wearing evenly. I'm assuming the driver's rear is out of alignment but any other issues I should be aware of? The highways around the SF Bay Area aren't great but I can't recall any major pot holes issues that could have thrown the rear this far out of whack.

I picked up a set of four Vredestsin Ultracs so I'll be swapping them on today and will schedule a dealer visit next week for the alignment and anything else you guys mention.

You're right about alignment being the likely cause. Camber in particular. Other than that, you might have a bit of negative camber on both wheels, but you happen to take your left turns harder than your right turns in general. So you might have compensated for the camber wear on the passenger side by also leaning hard on the outer shoulder taking hard left corners.

You might also check air pressures, to see if they are uniform from left to right.

Thanks Ben. That's what I figured but I thought I better ask. The sweepers are pretty equal to/from work and the air pressure has been rock steady at all four corners..

I have an alignment scheduled next week.

Thanks again, Rick
