Exclamation Be Careful when Using Aftermarket Angel Eyes

I think the picture speaks for itself:
Name: IMG_1315.jpg
Views: 3446
Size: 179.2 KB

This is not the first time this has happened with this product either, and this is supposed to be the "updated" version.

Turned my car in from lease the other day and as I was getting ready to put my angel eyes back to stock, I opened the hood and noticed a very strong burning smell. Took out the aftermarket angle eyes and this is what I found. Now the company wants me for a third time to use the same product (that has melted twice) in my brand new M3.

Lesson learned..... Be careful when buying some aftermarket stuff to put in your $65k car.

Here's the other piece of the product. As you can see, it's melted as well.

This is just one of the reasons why I will stick to the stock Angeleyes. Besides, IMO I think the stockers look just fine...way more other things I'd rather spend my mod money on.

Me neither.... And $245 for LUX is less than what I paid for these.

I have the LUX and haven't seen any issues. I will check today to see if I see any issues.

I can tell you that these aren't the LUX's, just by looking at the setup I know they aren't.

to be honest
you really can't beat the GP thunders
they looks good, with none of the risks of the LED/HID options
and don't get me started on the OSS ones

Justin,

Your kit was originally purchased in May of 2009, and still covered under warranty for 1 more year. We also notified you in October 09 about a new DriverPack revision being released - and was more than happy to send free replacement to you - even covering the cost of shipping.

The warranty on most other kits are anywhere from 90 days to 1 year max.

If there is a problem with the product, we will make sure AIB stands behind it. As stated in my last email to you - we will be more than happy to exchange the kit for you. However, you need to make the next move in sending the kit back to us for replacement.

However, we do not handle or respond to warranty requests in a public matter nor on discussion forums. If you would like these replaced, please follow the instructions in the email that was sent to you yesterday.

I've had both Weisslichts and now LUX v3 (which are friggin awesome!) and no issues with either.

I've taken both long drives and left them on for over 30 minutes in a hot garage (whoops) while importing some songs off a USB stick (stupid lack of 6FL). No issues with either (and I've opened them up to look.)

Given that the Lux are cheaper and brighter, I don't know why anyone would go with AIB...

Tom, we've already gone over this in emails. I already have the updated DriverPack from you after my first ones burned out. My original purchase was in May of '09. My updated pack is dated 10/09/09. Yes you sent it free and I appreciate it. However your "new" DriverPack is what is pictured here. It burned just like the old one. You are very nice with your warranty, but honestly after these things melted twice do you really expect me to try again in a brand new car??? No way would I risk a third try on a brand new car. What if it caught fire???

Your picture is not the same driver pack I have which is supposedly the most recent one. Weren't there 3 versions of the AiB released? Maybe you got ver 2.

I don't know. But this is what they sent me after they put out an update in October '09. Is there a second updated pack?
