I have the worst MPG on the forum!

Hello! I am guessing I have the worst miles per gallon on the forum!

I live in Santa Monica, CA and work 5.1 miles away in Century City. I really don't drive too many miles per week and I haven't done much freeway driving at all since I got the car. It's a 6MT and I frequently drive in 2nd gear when I could be in 3rd.

Considering my round trip commute is 10 miles 5 days a week I really am not complaining! Only obvious complaint is I rarely get to use all this power!

Does anyone have worse MPG confirmed???

here's my MPG as of yesterday:

here's a pic of my car:

here's the bluff at Montana Ave overlooking the Ocean. this is 2 blocks from my place:

Its only got 1900 miles so it will get better over time. My X5M was in the 11-13s first 4k miles. Now it's 14.

Most get similar mileage driving at the track while having gobbs of fun..

And on the way to the track and back, average around 18mpg..

Sounds like your doing it all wrong down there in Santa Monicaland!

What does the bluff have to do with your MPG? Your not driving up & down to PCH for your commute.

Consolation

The S65 definitely dislikes short drives and city driving, w/respect to MPG. Given the 10W-60 oil, cold start program from the DME for quick converter light-off, etc. the fuel mileage around town, especially short trips, is terrible.

If it makes you feel any better, my 2008 Porsche Cayman 2.7 easily got 27mpg on the highway (even when driven hard) but if I drove it around the city and in traffic, the mileage dropped into the 17mpg range. Pretty terrible for a 2,900 lb car w/a relatively small engine. On the flip side, I test drove a C63 AMG before purchasing my E90 M3, and the MPG avg. for that car was 9.2 MPG. Granted, it had been test driven a lot, so that's going to tank the MPG, but still pretty funny.

You could always trade it in for a E90 328i. It'll prob get about 18mpg around town and you'll miss your M3 everyday...

it's not terrible in my neighborhood. santa monica boulevard specifically is always pretty bad, I take that to work, but not home because its too backed up.

I live up Bev Glen and also work in Century City (2049 CPE). It is 5.0 even from my home to the garage. Averaging 13.1 in the Vert.

I adore where I live, you have no idea how much my rent is.

I really don't see myself leaving my current place for quite a while. It's very good.

And sure, I like the beach more than someone who has lived here their whole life, so what.

Haters ALWAYS gonna hate! geez

Where do you live OC3? I see your "SoCal" isn't very descriptive.

Lastly, before this I lived in NYC and paid exorbitant rent there, at least here I have an ocean 2 blocks away.

Soviet Monica is paradise for renters thanks to all of the left wing liberal bureaucrats that live there as they ironically happen to be renters as well. They created the climate for themselves. Owning in SM is different story.

What's the beef man? That's not even constructive of his post topic, lol.

Frankly I'm jealous. Do you have any idea how over-priced our rent is here in Stamford, CT just from being in close proximity to the city?

You dont want overpriced rent? -- move to a rural area with no traffic....

PKL - It will get better -- Mine started around 10mpg, and now I average 15mpg at 12k miles. Try to resist goosing it in 2nd gear.

Tell me about it. But I'm not complaining. How much is gas up in Canada?

lulz, I'm not hating, buddy. It's just something I noticed for a long time. People from other states relocate to Southern California with pre-conceived dreams/visions of Baywatch.

But yeah, Santa Monica, as tlp stated, is rent-controlled, so perhaps the rent there is not as bad as neighboring beach front areas. Plus, I'm sure the rent here feels like a bargain compared to NY/Manhattan.

I'm further inland/north in Valencia area.
