Damn. Now I'm going to keep calling a bath tub.

But seriously how can one think a roof with straight edges and a flat top trunk that looks like the fold down tray of an economy class seat in a plane looks good?!

I already said i dont have a problem with the looks when the top is down but cmon. Seriously? Looks like crap w the roof intact.

Not many are a better buy than the E93. In terms of convertibles that look better than the E93, I can name a few below and above its price range.

I can name many nicer cars that cost more that look better because they are simply sexier cars such as a DBS Volante or a Lamborghini Performante, but the only other convertible under 100k that I could honestly pretend to consider would be the E93 M3, RS5, or a Boxster S.

370z convertible also looks good. much better than the 3 series convertible. Also Jag F type is good looking too.

Yeah, the convertibles that cost 2x more better be good looking. Out of all that are mentioned (370z, F Type v6 - v8 doesn't count - out of price range, RS5, Boxter S), e93 still is much better performance option and livable (4 real seats) IMO. RS5 comes close, but with the top down, frankly looks pretty damn similar to M3 to me.

Besides, I like both e92 and e93 - own an e92 myself. I think they look great in their own ways. Again, why hate?? It's just silly to justify a hierarchy based on personal preference.

This is exactly one of the best points about the E9x. The only way you're going to beat it performance wise is by spending a lot more money. Even the RS5 (which in my opinion is the only convertible that is in the same league in terms of looks, performance and price) is probably about $10k more expensive, when similarly equipped (that's an approximation on my part). Also, the RS5 convertible is about 200 lbs heavier than the M3, and the limited times on fastestlaps.com shows the E93 a little faster around the track than the RS5 convertible. (In terms of looks though, I'll be the first to admit that the RS5 is gorgeous).

There is a lot of hate for the E93 on this forum - which I don't understand. If you don't like it, don't buy it! In terms of its extra weight (which is admittedly signficant - over 400 lbs), its lap times per fastestlaps.com are waaaaay faster than that extra weight would suggest, and its actually faster than other "performance" cars that weigh 400-600 lbs less.

Bottom line - if you love M cars, and want top-town sights and sounds, there is nothing out there (short of RS5 or new F83 M4 coming out soon) that can match the E93 when considering price, looks and performance (unless you go for way more expensive ride).

Good point - assuming you are married with two nearly teenage kids and want vehicles that can hold your whole family
