Fix Exhaust Leak, Upgrade Clamps?
I discovered an exhaust leak where the x pipe connects to the connecting pipes of the muffler. I could feel a small stream of exhaust escaping out of the open area where the bolt is (the mouth of the clamp?). It makes sense because that's the only open area around the circumference of the clamp. This happens on both pipes.
I actually over torqued and snapped the bolt trying to close the leak. Maybe my aftermarket x pipe is slightly shorter, or the mouth radius is slightly smaller than OEM? Regardless, I don't think I could solve it by torque OEM clamps more. Are there better/tighter clamps that I could use? Or exhaust paste could help? |

just had to replace my oem clamps, they had stretched out to the point i could move them with my hand when fully tightened.
I found mine on ebay for $15 apiece shipped. |

I have no problem with OEM so I'd probably just stick with a new set of OEM.
