Any dealers offering Tire/Wheel protection?
For a good price?
I am probably going to be buying my M3 in the next week. I want an option if I cant negotiate a deal with the dealer for a tire/wheel package at the sale I used a policy from First Automotive for my 335 and for all intents and purposes, it doesnt exist anymore. Their new policies are much worse, have a $2000 ceiling and will only pay $150 towards rim repairs (and are very stingy with replacement). That and the policy price went up $300 That policy was $646 for 3 years I'd rather go thru a no-hassle company like the one BMW offers |

Yes, BMW offers its own wheel and tire insurance. They will likely try to sell it to you at the time of your purchase. Prices I have seen are much higher than the $646 for three years that your old company is now quoting. Three years of the BMW insurance is likely in the $900-$1,000 range (3 yrs coverage) but it does not have a ceiling... Also keep in mind that the BMW offering does not cover cosmetic damage like curb rash as I recall, only major failures like a bent/cracked rim.
I have it on my car and have only replaced one tire with a nail in it, no questions asked. With ten months of coverage left it seem like a money loser for me though the insurance on my wife's X5 paid or itself and most on my policy given the number of run-flat tires she went through! Edit: Keep in mind that the price of the policy is negotiable, like everything else!

Yeah. I'm gonna have to talk to my dealership about it but I wanted a backup in case I had to walk from their policies. I put in an inquiry to AllState. Safeguard, i couldn't find their contact info - I guess its dealer only.
I'm hoping the non-runflats dont go boom as often but I dont want to take the risk. Especially with all insurance policies being refundable (pro-rated) in NY state. |
