My Evo Transformed Into An M3?
Hello everyone. Been on the forums for about a month already. Figured i would make a little thread introducing myself and such. Some of you may remember i was selling my Evo. Well it finally sold last week, and this morning the M3 arrived!
Been driving it all day. Its an amazing feeling. Coming from the Evo its sooo smooth and just a great overall experience. My Evo had 473whp and 411wtq. So i knew coming into the M3 that its a pretty decent downgrade in power. But for an almost basically stock M3, it feels great! And the overall feel of the car makes up for the power. Here is some info on the M3 and its upgrades: 2008 E92 6MT Alpine White, Carbon Roof, Fox Red Interior 36k miles (has extended warranty) Stock Exhaust with QTP Cut-Outs (before mufflers) Rogue Engineering Short Shift Eibach Springs BMW Performance Steering Wheel Alpine Angel Eyes VMR VB3 19" Wheels Iconz 2pc. Forged 20" Wheels (extra set) Gloss Black Front Grill The cut-outs sound great. Considering its only cutting off the mufflers and still has the factory cats/resonators, its not obnoxiously loud. I basically drive with them open all the time. Low RPM's are pretty "bassy" sounding with some drone. But then again im used to the Evo which was super loud and droned, so this is no problem. Here is a quick iphone pic i snapped this afternoon. EDIT (3/19/11) Some new pics i took this afternoon...nothing too crazy: Last edited by Evolved M3; 03-19-2011 at 04:39 PM.. |

Welcome fellow Ex-EVO driver. I just traded in my '10 EVO MR last week for a '11.5 E92 AW/Carbon/M-DCT and I'm loving it too. My EVO was stock so for me it was a power upgrade also, but that said there is a touch more lag when the trans engages 1st from a dead stop than my old SST. I'm sure once I'm through the break-in period I can enjoy the power these cars really have. I can already tell why these cars have been a performance benchmark for so long.
Enjoy your new M3 and drive safe.

welcome!
I used to have an 2003 Evo 8. I didn't have much power mods, but I did significant suspension work. I agree, the M3 just feels and sounds very fast, better in all aspects the the Evo. The V8 scream is a lot sexier than the booming sounds from the Evo. All the little "extras" from the M3 just makes the car that much more sweeter...like Navi, leather, performance steering wheel. |

Congrats. Once you've got a few weeks worth of driving in, let's us know how it compares against your Evo.
Also, check out the new M exhaust (Bimmerpost front page); sounds like something you might be interested in.

Welcome to the family! I had an Evo VIII and IX before I came to the dark side (or is it the other way around? lol).
You're going to the love the handling and the European affection it gives you. I saw that you were hanging around the the ESS SC threads on the forum. Are you going to head that route as well?
