Wisdom Teeth Removal

Is it necessary to have a 'pass-out' sedation?

or we can just get the 'concious' sedation?

the pain hit me real hard earlier today, and am trying to set up appointment with a dentist/surgeon

I recommend just going to sleep...you'll be fine. They made me count to 10..i counted to i think 3 lol...then i was asleep, kind of unconsciously felt them messing with my teeth but i was fine, woke up groggy but not too bad.

I was told by my ortho surgeon that it depends on how impacted your teeth are...so it's a very personal determination.

have you ever had conscious sedation? If not, I'd recommend not using this as your learning experience.... You will remember everything and you will feel the pressure, etc.

For some reason, the only part that scares me about the wisdom teeth removal is being put under... just a fear of not waking up

As said above, you might be able to get away with staying awake if all your wisdoms are not impacted.

One set I had removed while I was awake on tons of Novocaine and even more Nitrous. The other I had removed while under anesthesia.

Both work.. the best part is afterwards you get lots of happy pills..

that's my biggest fear also.

i have had concious sedation before for a prosthetic implant or whatever youc all it. grinded my tooth all the way and inserted the nail/screw and a fake tooth. that was not so bad but don't know about the removing of wisdom teeth though.

i still have go for a consultation and hope the situation is not too bad for a concious sedation

If you are having pain push you into this, I would recommend being put under. You may have impacted molars etc.

I was put out, its no big deal, and if you don't wake up...well, you'll never know it so enjoy.

You're scared of not waking up? That should be the least of your worries with wisdom teeth, the possible pain right after and the day after is more possible than not waking up

I also waited until pain forced me to go. For me the pain making me go was worse than the recovery pain, I was relieved when it was done.

Its not that bad, the worst part is keeping it clean and eating soft foods until its healed up. Just get it done.

Councios surgery od two wisdom teeth here... i feel pain for about a week, i made an appointment to dentist, 2 h surgery with camera so i can look what surgent made , they talk to me ( jokes) very nice lady with big decolletage near my face, go to home, take myself 2 strong painkillers, next day pain was abourt 40% of the pain before surgery and in evening no pain at all!! ;_)

My wife have "pass-out" and no drama at all

how many are being taken out?

i did 1 at a time so it wasn't bad at all. they injected some local anesthetic and that was it. you feel them tugging but there's only pressure and no pain. if you feel pain, tell them and they'll numb you up again.

if you're a smoker, i recommend NOT smoking after surgery. there will be a hole where they pull the tooth out and if you smoke, the hole will not fill; so you'll have a hole there for the rest of your life.

don't trip yourself out too much about it. it wasn't nearly as bad as i thought it to be.

Back in ......Oh, never mind ....I had one of the worst cases of impacted teeth and did quite fine with sedation. I could see in the reflection of my dentist's face mask how he was cracking them to pieces and pulling them out piece by piece and it was just great entertainment to me.

That gas is great sh*t ...I tell you. Wish I had a tank of it with an oxygen mask right next to my Lazy Boy at home to enjoy while watching movies on cable

Just had 2 removed with Novocaine. Was no big deal and virtually no pain.

That is not true, ive been smoking about an hour after surgery, and then smoke as usuall and dont have hole where my teeth was

When I had my wisdom teeth removed I was awake. The biggest mistake of my life!

Mine were Impacted, and the dentist saying "ok your going to feel some pressure" then hitting my teeth with a chizzel was horrible.

Even with pain meds and local anesthesia - it hurt.

go to sleep, wake up and say some funny stuff to whoever picks you up and enjoy your Vicodin prescription.

i had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled with just Novocaine, took it like a boss
that and my insurance didn't cover it, so i wasn't going to spend any more money out of pocket. Really no pain at all, just feel pressure then pop! teeth are out.

With the Vico you really wont have much pain afterwards..like someone said, the most PIA thing is later you have to drink ur lunch until it closes and that's annoying.

Don't trip out on being put under; just get a good recommended surgeon...they do this thing day in and day out...ur just another customer
