E93 M3 or Porsche C2?

Thought OT would be better than anywhere else... free feel to move/delete etc as you please mods.

$61,998
10k miles
http://tiny.cc/e93m3white

vs.

$61,998
20k miles
http://tiny.cc/09PorscheC2

Same price.
Same year.

However, M3 has free maintenance and 10k less miles; Porsche maintenance (from what I've read) isn't great, but not all that bad either.

Similarly equipped.

Porsche will out-handle the M3 as well as beat it on a straight; but it's not a hard top vert.
M3 rear seats are usable, Porsche's are not.
M3 has more storage room.

FWIW, Porsche also gets much better MPG.

I've been driving a BMW for about 18 months...(between the 335i and the Z4).
Owned a 996 Porsche Turbo prior...

I can find a used 09 GTR with 10k or less miles for around the same price... but that car's maintenance isn't pretty...

Decisions decisions..

Vote No. 1 here for the Porsche.

BMW maintenance IMO is a joke, so I'd just remove that from the benefits.

The 911 (dare I say) will most likely be more reliable as well.

Regarding maintenance..
the longest I've kept a car is 16 months (my e93 335i) (excluding my C class from age 16-18)... so as long as warranty fixes it.. I'm usually pretty good.
I got screwed really really bad with my 986 and 996 before... so no way am I ever getting a Porsche out of warranty again... or any car for that matter.

And regarding reliability... since I don't plan on keeping any car out of warranty.... shouldn't be too much of a worry...

I need to drive the Porsche.

I don't think many on here have a Porsche C2...most who have on I've noticed have a C2S or 911GT3...

Given that the Porsche is not an S model, I say M3. It has 70 more hp, and comes with free maintenance. And Porsche maintenance is not cheap. I think the Porsche would probably make a better track car, with its fixed roof, lighter weight and better handling. But as a street car, I think the M3 is the better choice.

If that were an S model with its 385 hp, I would change my mind.

yeah

But the S model... for a 09... can easily run in the 70s-80s

I would rather spend my money on real estate :/
Or get a GTR in that price range... or a used 07 997 Turbo

Porsche C2 0-60 is 4.3, on par with the e92 M3.
Faster than the e93 M3
http://tiny.cc/997P0-60

The S is 4.1

I guess it's Performance vs. hard top vert lol.

Driving the P car will help

Porsches really aren't about the hp. Numbers don't tell the real story - the way it drives

Yeah you're 100% correct.

My old 986 was more fun to drive than my e93 335i
But it wasn't practical (or that fast in a straight) at all; nor did it have any luxuries
But the fun factor was definitely there
The 996 was indeed amazing... but unexpected upkeep along with an older body style...

I am really curious on how PDK is; I've heard nothing but great things about it.

^Yeah, I am actually curious about the numbers of base 911's Porsche sells, most I see are S's as well. We've had a bunch of Porsche's in the family, we sold the 997 GT3 earlier this year. It was a hell of a fun car, but couldn't drive it most of the year because of the Chicago weather and the roads here are terrible, I thought I was going to destroy my wheels with all the potholes. That aside, I'm sure the base C2 would still be an awesome car. We owned an '02 996 C2 that I loved, so I'm sure you'd get a lot of enjoyment out of the newer model. Oh, and PDK is quite nice. Just got back from driving the C4S around, and it's a damn good tranny.

why an e93? why not e90 or e92? e93 is heavier with high center of gravity than the e90/e92 m3 so it wont handle as well. If you must choose between e93 m3 and the C2 I'd pick the porsche

Surely there are other options... I would look at a Cayman S, or look for an E92/E90 M3 instead of an E93. Maybe a Carrera S with a few more miles and a year older?

I'd get Car 2. With the aluminum interior trim pieces being swapped with carbon ones, HRE's, a drop, and a Capristo, it's as close to perfect as can be (for a non-CS )
