Has anyone else noticed that this bar can't actually pivot and for all intents and purposes acts as one piece when installed?
The housing for this encapsulates all but the top portion, which is off presumably for easy removal of the bar for various reasons. However, it prevents the bar from pivoting as it's effectively bolted down and binding with that strut bar housing. Think I'm wrong? Try pivoting this bar while it's installed in it's housing in either direction. It won't budge. Besides the mechanical bind, the clamping force from the side of that bolt also helps. For what it's worth, I noticed my old Dinan strut bars were hinged way back when. What I didn't notice is them loosening up after a period of driving at all. Meaning there wasn't enough force to un-bind them or loosen them over time, so they also acted as one piece. And they didn't even have this housing in place to prevent that. |
