Question about crack at muffler support

Hi,

I noticed a crack at the weld of the support of my Gintani after-market muffler (see pics). Gintani would fix it for free but they are in LA and I am in NYC..

I got a quote from my indy shop for about $200 to fix this. Am I right that there is nothing DIY that can be done here (short of welding, which I can't do)?

This is a <$50 fix at any muffler shop in NYC.

dude, that's an 8 second job. literally 8 seconds worth of work. find any welder and tell them you'll give them $40 to burn it real quick.
