Have had numerous manual trans cars, now have DCT and love it.

Well, you can forget all that. The new car is fitted with a turbocharged straight six. Turbocharging? In an M car? That’s like putting gravy on an ice cream.

Six MTs, now the DCT. Test drove an E90 M3 w/manual, but, prefer the DCT in the E92. Still miss the MT in the 2006 330i!

I ended up going with MT but I never drove an e92 with DCT. After moving to my new job and almost every car I work on has DCT, I gotta say it's an amazing gearbox! Wish I had it in the e92

The dct is a would of difference from an auto the only thing I don't like is mentally not knowing what gear you in always having to count or look at the dash

What a s$%d poll thread obviously formulated to show bias toward dct from the OP !!!
You should ask how many people saw the light and went from dct to 6mt and trust me there are plenty of stories. Obviously by the way the OP asked the poll he was stacked against 6MT, this thread is a vs. from the get go.

Personally, I drove dct and 6mt and choose 6mt with no hesitation. Confirmed 100% the right choice for me. Later i drove a dct on a track and could not be happier to be back in my 6mt in full control. Absolutely the right choice if you want to enjoy your car in all driving situations. Track, street or roads.

No lag, no hesitation, no having to set software modes back and forth, always in full control at any allure , any time anywhere, no gear slammed by computer. No need for a software update, no artificial intelligence trying to second guess how you want to shift. Instead I get full control, can rev match as high or low in RPM as i choose, can rev my engine between gears as I choose, It's like driving in 3D while the dct is 2D missing one dimension that's computer controlled. All of that for a few milliseconds. To me it's all about the joy of full control. I have a right to miss my gear shift, rev too high or too low it's part of the fun that I would be missing with dct. Not to mention worries about reliabilty and the cost to replace dct versus 6mt.

I love my DCT.

Previously, I have had all manual cars.

The last few were a couple of E36 M3's, both manual, and a GT3, also a manual. I tracked for many years and even instructed for about 6 years. The only auto ever in the household was the wife's car.

When I ordered my M3 in 2008, I jumped at the DCT. Having road-raced 250cc shifter karts (with a butterfly shifter set-up), I found I really liked the idea of having the shifting at my finger tips. The DCT is akin to my karts shifter. I love the idea of having both hands on the wheel at all times....and I love how quickly it will shift. Yes, there are always those times when I am not 100% satisfied how quickly it will shift, etc (usually downshifts). But all in all, I am very pleased with the DCT and would order it again.

Believe it or not 34 years in a MT. Still trying to get used to the DCT but only had it for about 3 weeks. Seems to be a temperamental bastard when cold.
