Any PMPs out here??

Hey all,

I am looking to sit in the PMP exam this summer and wanted to know if anyone could lead me on the correct path toward passing the first time? I am planning to do a 1 week boot camp and sit the exam shortly after, and am reviewing Rita Mulcahy's book, but I'm not certain if this is sufficient enough? I am currently a project manager working for a start-up company in mobile web, so the questions the exam are based on don't essentially correlate with the project management processes for a start-up company. Thanks!

Yeah, I'm a Pimp Major Pimp.
Exam is turning 20 bitches out while averaging $13,500 per day in revenue for two weeks. I turned 23 whores out and averaged almost $20,000 per day. I'm a Grand Master PMP now.

Split your time/effort as follows:
1/3 - classes, PMBOK
1/3 - Rita Mulcahy's book
1/3 - sample test questions

Ditto what epacy2 said.

But seriously, do what smyles said and you'll be good. The PMP test is hard, but passable. I did what smyles laid out a few years ago and passed it the first time.

So now that I've been a PMP for a few years, I've come to the following conclusion: having the certification on your resume definitely helps open doors. Other than that, the certification is completely useless unless you are going into the government sector. What you learn in "courses" is basically common sense, and I felt no more "equipped" to do a better job than before I took courses and became certified. In fact, most people I meet that have PMP's are worse PM's than the ones that don't.

Needless to say I'm no longer in the PM field so I have let the certification expire, and I give the same advice to other PM's that ask about it: if you have time and money and are a decent PM, definitely go for it as it can really open up the job opportunities for you, but don't expect to learn anything new.
