Lots of stares?

I don't know about you guys, but I've noticed people stare like crazy at this car. I haven't had stares like this since I had my 2002 M Coupe.

I guess I had mistakenly figured people would just dismiss my sedan as a 335. What have you guys experienced?

I stopped for breakfast once, and came out to a chick in a bikini gawking at my car. My wife thought she would have probably hit on me if she wasn't there.

I also had a latino guy pull up to me and tell me: "Too many people are scared to drive fast." Which didn't make sense. I didn't know if he was talking about me puttering around or if he was referring to other drivers.

Any similar funny stories?

most people wont look if you can see them. Try this, driving beside someone and they don't look and pretend your not there, as soon as you pass them turn your head around and look back at them they will start staring at the car hahahaha. Its hilarious

I've noticed (through the mirrors rear and sides )about 5 or 6 people take pictures with their phones (from inside their car or sticking out their window)as I drive, at stoplights and parking lots. Oh and a couple of cars seem to ride next to me and them make an U turn and go completly opposite way.

I can only imagine what it will be like when I get my M3 in November. I already get the dirtiest looks when I pull up to a handicapped parking stall in my S4. I guess handicapped people can't have nice cars.

Around here the car really stands out, people definately notice. Many conversations started based on the car...

In LA same deal, gas station, cruising, wherever...

Talking I get allot of people looking at my M3 at stop lights

I am the only person in my town with the new M3 plus I have a Hamann kit on mine which attracts more stares. I had a few people try to take pictures with their phone at stop lights, When I notice people are looking and stare I would step on the gas and make the engine roar, and the look on their face is just priceless as I then press the (M) and I'm gone with the wind

Lots of stares and random walk-ups while refueling. Been getting random hand-smudges on the windows too, cupped as they looked inside. Dirty animals.

I almost got pissed, then your last sentence. I've got a friend with a Porsche that got key'd in a handicap slot at our work. He has scoliosis.

First month I did enjoy it untill you start getting TOO much attention. For example, you make that extra effort just to park farther away but when you come back you see some guy has parked RIGHT next to you when there are literally 10 parking spots to the next closest car. Also, it seems like EVERY mustang I see on the road wants to race me, wtf?

I noticed that people in Europe (done ED last July) appreciate this car more than back here in the States.

I am currently in an '07 M coupe and I am looking forward to the M3 drawing less attention. It gets old after a while. Oregon is one of two states where you can't self serve, so every time I fill up, there is some interaction with some pump jockey. "How fast does it go?" "How much was it?" "Yah, my cousin had an M3... those turbocharged BMW's are fast." And I can't hardly go anywhere without some WRX or Evo wanting to get racy. So, I'm hoping the M3 will be a little lower profile, at least to most of the ignorant, huddled masses.

Agreed, at first I thought people were going to think its just a normal 335 and that actually really appealed to me since I could have a car where only the enthusists will know about it while having all that performance but people are more educated then I anticipated ha ha

I got "WIFEOKD" on my plate. that gets more attention than the car. although it completely kills any chance of women actually coming up to me now. oh well, I'll just cry in my car.

Wow, I never thought about the pump-your-own states. That's a nice perspective for those of us with self serv. Probably fun for a while, but must be an annoyance over time.
